McIntyre and Pelosi cost over North Carolinians $1.68 a gallon

Washington, DC – Between the time Rep. McIntyre voted to make Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House the actions/inaction of Congress has resulted in a $1.68 per gallon price rise for a gallon of gas. Will Breazeale and the Republicans in Congress have a plan that would actually reduce it by $1.98 per gallon.

McIntyre and Pelosi have blocked drilling for the extensive oil deposits in North Alaska and off shore in the lower 48 states. Cuba is allowing the Chinese and others to drill in areas that US companies are prohibited from drilling by Congress. McIntyre and Congress have also blocked any new gasoline refineries being built – even though the damage from Hurricaines’ Rita and Katerina showed how shockingly short of refinery capacity we are.

McIntyre voted against legislation that would have eased restrictions on building refineries and also against building refineries on abandoned military bases. He also has voted against drilling for oil. He has also voted to increase taxes on gasoline producers – even though gasoline is one of the most taxed commodities already with the Federal government and the states taxing many times the oil companies’ profit on a gallon of gas.

What the USA needs is a comprehensive policy on energy – drilling for new oil where it exists here in the US – building new nuclear power plants – allowing our abundant supplies of coal to be mined and used to provide clean affordable power – encouraging private enterprise to develop new alternative sources of energy – allow US oil companies to expand their refining capabilities – end subsidies for converting corn to ethanol, which does little to expand energy supplies but greatly inflates the cost of food.

Candidate Will Breazeale and the Republicans in currently in Congress have a plan to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and reduce the price of gas. The estimate is that rather than $4.02 per gallon it would be $2.04 per gallon. These are not pie in the sky proposals like windmills and solar. There is nothing wrong with wind and solar - but they will not substantially reduce our dependence on foreign oil for years. They are not proposing punitive taxes on the people who actually produce oil and gas.

McIntyre drops last shred of "Blue Dog" image

Ever since his first election to Congress, Mike McIntyre has tried hard to convince the voters he was a "conservative" a "Blue Dog". He was successful, as long as the Democrats were not in power in Congress. But that all changed when the Democrats won the majority in 2006.

The first indication that his image was slipping was when he voted to make ultraliberal Nancy Pelosi the Speaker of the House. He has followed that with many votes with the liberals against the conservative principles of the voters in district 7.

He has finally shown his true colors by endorsing Obama for President and calling for the Democrat Party to "unify".

I have voted for McIntyre every time since his second election. I have appreciated his support for the military and the Second Amendment.

His recent rantings against oil companies made me start to wonder if he was jumping on the nutjob left-wing bandwagon, and his announced support for Obama leaves little doubt in my mind. He wants a committee chairmanship, and will not get it without towing Pelosi's line.

Hopefully many others will send Mcintyre a goodbye message by NOT voting for him in November. It will take every one of us, because the entire Western half of District 7 is occupied by societal sponges with their hands out collecting TANF, food stamps, Medicaid, and every other program YOUR tax dollars fund.

Dear Congressman McIntyre,
As you know, I am the Nominee of the Republican Party for U.S. Congress District 7-NC. I wanted to write to you for two reasons: to congratulate you on your recent re-nomination for U.S. Congress District 7-NC as the Nominee of the Democrat Party and to formally challenge you to a series of debates between now and Election Day on 4 November 2008.
Our country and Congressional District face very important issues such as our lagging economy with associated high gas and food prices, our inefficient and complicated tax system, the War in Iraq, Health Care and the illegal immigrant problem. Many people in our district are hurting and want answers from us, not political posturing. You have declined to debate ANY candidate running against you since you were originally elected in 1996.
You have stated to the media that “people know you so you do not need to debate.” The average person moves every five years in this country. As you know, our district experiences constant change every year from new people and businesses who I will submit do NOT know you. In fact, as I campaign around our district, I find the average person cannot even name you when asked who their Congressman is. It is clear, that in order to fully inform the people of this district on the issues so they can make an informed choice at the polls, we MUST debate! As a trial lawyer, you know the truth only comes out upon cross examination. It is time for you to give the people of this district a chance to cross examine our positions on issues that matter to them.

1. Agree to debate me in an open forum with allowances for TV, radio and print media coverage at least 4 times starting in July and continuing once per month until October. (July, August, September, October)

Hundreds celebrate true meaning of Memorial Day

Don Talbot recognizes that others may not hold the same high esteem for Memorial Day that he does.

The master of ceremonies Monday for the annual ceremony at Freedom Memorial Park knows much of the country sees the holiday as a day for the mall or the beach.
But for Talbot and the hundreds that gathered at the park in downtown Fayetteville, the day is still about remembering what others gave for our freedoms.
“There are too many people in this country that don’t understand that,” Talbot said while standing among the stone monuments dedicated to the region’s veterans.
Army Reserve Maj. William Breazeale, the event’s keynote speaker, had a similar message.
The three-war veteran with more than 18 years of military experience has served during operations Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
Breazeale heaped praise upon the veterans in attendance and those being honored for sacrificing their lives for their country, but added a somber message: they would not be the last needed to serve their country.
“We do live in an imperfect world,” he said. “Wars will always go on.”
On his latest tour of duty, Breazeale lost three of his friends.
“The hardest thing to do in life is to say goodbye to someone you love,” he said. “If you know someone who has died in a war, Memorial Day is not one time a year. Memorial Day is every day.
But Breazeale did not feel that death should discourage anyone from serving his country.
“I know it’s OK to hire someone to clean your house or mow your lawn,” he said. “But I don’t think it’s right to have someone fight for your freedom if you can do it yourself.”

Hello to all!

As this newsletter is being delivered, I am busy campaigning this Memorial Day in Cumberland County at five different events. The highlight of all these events is Fayetteville's Memorial Day Ceremony where I am honored to serve as the keynote speaker. Mine is a message of thanks for the service of all who gave all in battle for this country, and also a message of challenge to every American to do more for their country. Anything from obeying all laws, to serving your favorite charity, to serving in the United States military.

I was always taught growing up that to achieve positive results you should never quit. It really disappoints me whenever I meet people ready to give up on Iraq and this war against terrorism. Look at what happened in Vietnam. The vocal anti-war protesters, aided by biased media reporting brought about an unconditional withdrawal. This cost the lives of many Vietnamese who had fought with us. It also encouraged the slaughter of millions in other parts of Southeast Asia. Despite that, the seeds of freedom and Capitalism were sown. Vietnam has gone from a war torn country in the early 1970s abandoned to communist rule, to a thriving CAPITALIST country today. They have one of the most productive oil and gas industries in the region and drilling for more. Vietnam has the fastest growing tourist industry in the world. Over 370,000 Americans visited Vietnam last year alone. It took over 30 years, but Vietnam has been won by becoming a system of capitalism NOT communism. Where you have Capitalism, you generally have freedom, but how many lives - Vietnamese, Laotian, Cambodian - would have been saved if we had not "cut and run"?

I make this correlation to Iraq today. There have been difficult times there, sometimes the situation seemed desperate, but we ARE succeeding and MUST see this fight through. We are setting in motion a transformation similar to the one Vietnam has witnessed but with our support it will not take 30 years and hundreds of thousands or millions of innocent lives. I really believe this in my heart based on my experience in Iraq at all levels of helping their government.

My staff continues to make aggressive plans to win this race for Congress! One of my top priorities continues to be a debate with McIntyre whenever and wherever. The people of this district deserve an open and honest debate on the issues important to the district, to see exactly who it is that will represent them in Congress. I am passionate about your conservative issues and it will show during a debate...I promise!

Organizations all over this country are making their decisions on who to endorse in this race. This means my filling out numerous questionnaires on my positions, making hours of work for me each week. The work is important, especially with McIntyre resisting open debates. Why is Will Breazeale the right person for District 7 Congressional seat? Everyone is concerned about the economy. Will’s immigration plan is to secure our border with Mexico which will strengthen North Carolina’s economy.
Will say’s “No Amnesty” for illegal immigrants, and wants to end automatic U.S. citizenship to babies born to illegal immigrants in the U.S. and wants strict enforcement of employer laws pertaining to hiring illegal immigrants. Strengthening our Nation’s economy.

Who likes the Farm Bill? Hardly anyone - except those who profit from it!

Congress has passed the latest version of the Farm Bill - which is really a misnomer since much of the taxpayers' money that is shovelled into it goes to people who do not farm. Admittedly the longer title is "Farm, Nutrition, and Bioenergy Act."

At one time the government was concerned that farmers could not continue if they could not sell their crops at high enough prices, so Congress passed laws that would cause the government to buy some of the crops at those higher prices propping up the price - supply and demand. Then, the government having bought these crops and not really wanting them would either send them as humanitarian aid to third world countries or give them to people here with low incomes.

Now they just pay some people not to grow something so that those who do can get the higher price. Then they just give money to people with low incomes and more money to third world countries. Or their current plan literally burns taxpayers' dollars by buying up sugar at far above World commodity price and then selling at steep discounts to companies who will make it into ethanol for cars!

Oh, what economic wizards these Congressmen be!

With US and World food prices rising, third World countries rioting over food, chain stores in this country rationing rice and our Congress expands the multi Trillion dollar debt in order to pay farmers to grow less or even not grow altogether. In what alternate universe does this make any sense? I feel like I'm trapped in that SciFi series "Sliders" and am really expecting "Cromags" to show up next!

Here in southeastern NC Congressman Mike McIntyre is crowing about his having helped pass this bill. A quick check of his campaign contributions shows why. Since April 2007 he has raked in over $30 thousand from the big sugar farmers, NONE from North Carolina. And scrolling through just the top few dozen recipients found over $40 thousand in donations to Mike. No telling how many more came from the other couple thousand people on that list who get money from the bill. It is no wonder he has a million dollars in his war chest.

Sweet Deal for McIntyre and Sugar Producers in Farm Bill

Lumberton, NC – Order iced tea in Southeastern North Carolina and the waitress will expect you want it “sweet” – with lots of sugar, that is the way many people take it here. Democrat Congressman Mike McIntyre (NC-7) is a fan of sugar as well, to the tune of some $30,000 just since last April. That is how much “Big Sugar” contributed to his campaign in the past year.
According to the NC Dept. of Agriculture web site, sugar is not an NC grown crop or product. These donors to McIntyre’s campaign are predominately from Florida. What is the connection?

Why does “Big Sugar” care if McIntyre has enough money to run for re-election?

McIntyre sits on the Agriculture Committee – where the price guarantees for sugar producers originate. H.R 2419 is the reauthorization bill that includes the “sweet deal” for Big Sugar. A very sweet deal! Under this ongoing deal – which H.R.2419 would extend until at least 2012 – the sugar producers get a guarantee from Uncle Sam that if they cannot sell their sugar on the free market for the guaranteed price, Uncle will buy it from them at that price. Besides that, Uncle Sam slaps a tariff on imported sugar to further support the price.

The bill also provides for Uncle Sam to buy sugar at the artificially inflated prices from the producers and then sell it at deep discount to the companies that produce ethanol! What a great idea from McIntyre’s Democrat controlled Congress. Funnel taxpayer’s cash to sugar producers and then sell the sugar at a loss! No wonder this country is Trillions of dollars in debt and the dollar is dropping in value!

By contributing to McIntyre’s campaign “Big Sugar” expected his favorable vote on the bill.

They got it.

What did “Big Sugar” get for their money? Not only did McIntyre vote for the whole bill containing the extension and revamping of the sugar program – which he could claim was a vote for other “important” sections of the bill - he voted against an amendment that would have stripped just the sugar program from the bill. (Roll call 751)

Why do you care? Well, the price of Sweet Tea and all other products using sugar are higher because the price of sugar is artificially high. Other products manufacturers move out of the USA so they can buy sugar cheaper.

Sugar is so inexpensive in other countries – like Brazil – that they use it, rather than corn, to make ethanol for fuel. The Government Accountability Office estimates that the sugar program costs US consumers as much as $2 billion a year in higher food prices. Add to that the jobs lost, the taxpayer’s costs and that makes the $30,000 to McIntyre just a drop in the bucket!

English only ballot bill

Rep. Walter Jones, whose District borders Will's has co-sponsored legislation that calls for an end to Federal laws that require ballots to be printed in multiple - foreign - languages. Here! Here! it is high time this expensive nonsense ends. The US is an English speaking country and people who are American citizens (and therefore legally elegible to vote) should be voting in English. If they want to vote in other lanuages, there are plenty of other countries that expect people to vote in those languages.

The New Bern Sun Journal has more on Rep. Jones' bill:

U.S. Rep. Walter B. Jones co-sponsored a bill introduced on Wednesday to require
all federal elections ballots to be printed in English.
"It is important for people living in the United States to speak and understand English," Jones said. "A common language is what makes a nation one."
"Multi-lingual ballots not only divide American voters by language and cause needless confusion at the polls, they impose an unnecessary financial burden on state and local governments."
The American Elections Act would amend the Help America Vote Act and Voting Rights Act to require English ballots in all U.S. elections except those in which translations of American Indian or Alaskan dialects are needed.
Jones said a poll of Americans in 2006 showed that more than 60 percent of Americans want all U.S. election ballots printed in English only and that Congress should listen.

McIntyre still balking at endorsing a Democrat Presidential Candidate

Washington, DC – Rep. Mike McIntyre is still waiting to see which way the wind blows before deciding, as a Super Delegate to the Democrat National Convention, who to back for President. Although the North Carolina primary is over and Hillary won his district he is still not saying.
News reports have him attending meetings with both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama in DC after the NC votes were tallied but neither swayed him. Perhaps he understands the voters in his district better than the national party machine does. Every Presidential election since McIntyre was first elected in 1996 the district has cast a majority vote for the Republican. George W. Bush carried it with 54%. Even Bob Dole won there!
McIntyre knows that he needs votes from people who will not vote for the Democrat at the top of the ticket, either Hillary or Obama. He also knows that his district will also vote to re-elect Sen. Elizabeth Dole this fall. He doesn't want to make any of them angry with him. In fact, he might just want to show up at campaign events wearing Dole and McCain lapel stickers. After all the rank and file Democrats will automatically vote for him just because he is a Democrat but those Blue Dogs, the Reagan Democrats – the Conservative Democrats who have voted for him in the past might just slip and support one more Republican as they scroll down the ballot. With Conservative Republican candidate Will Breazeale, a Major in the Army Reserve and an airline pilot, he faces his strongest challenge since his fist election.

McIntyre gets failing grade from Club for Growth

Rep. Mike McIntyre wants voters to think he is Conservative - but the Conservative "Club for Growth" thinks otherwise. The just released their 2007 Congressional Scorecard and Mike scored a dismal 10%. Seems like I once got 10% correct on a test for spelling my name right. Now with a difficult to spell like McIntyre's opponent, the truly conservative Will Breazeale, 10% might be low. The people of the 7th District of North carolina deserve better than a 10% conservative.

Club for Growth Releases 2007 Congressional Scorecard

Congress Needs to Take On Cost Overruns -- Too often, the lawmakers can't agree on where there is waste in government. The problem is that everything in Washington, D.C. seems to have an army of lobbyists and powerful lawmakers playing defense at the slightest hint of trouble. But we think a recent report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) can break the impasse.

The report found that the 95 Department of Defense (DoD) weapons programs worth $1.6 trillion had had a total of $300 billion in cost overruns. The GAO has been doing this analysis of programs annually since 2000 and cost overruns and delays are actually worse than when they first started tracking.

Breazeale Clears the Air

White Lake, NC- Political campaigns have come to include too many personal attacks and smears. Some have likened running for public office to enduring a public medical examination.

As an effort to derail any possible misunderstandings or rumors, candidates now announce many details of their private lives, things that most citizens would leave out of their everyday discussions. An example of this is Sen. McCain's recent revelation that as a young naval officer he visited strip clubs.

Will Breazeale, candidate for Congress in the 7th North Carolina District, has decided to release some details of his life rather than have others speculate. It is already public knowledge that he is divorced and has a 15 year old daughter. Divorce and child support are often areas that generate curiosity. He stated that “As often happens, a court is involved in determining how much child support I should pay, this came about after my income jumped because of a promotion with my airline and after spending a year in the war zone with no income tax on my Army pay. We are in negotiations as to what the new level should be.” He said it should be resolved amicably in the near future and that his daughter has been campaigning with him.

He went on to say that divorce involving members of the military is too high. Serving the country, often over seas and physically separated from spouses and children is stressful and too often leads to divorce. Before his two latest deployments he had moved himself to his current home in White Lake, NC in order to be near enough to his ex-wife so that they could share custody of their daughter. Of course when he deployed for two out of four years to the Iraq war zone, shared custody had to end and child support questions were inevitable.

Commenting on other topics sometimes examined under the microscope of political campaigning, he listed several points:

He holds a Secret Security Clearance with the US Army, the latest review and renewal being January 2008.
He passed an FBI clearance required of all airline pilots following 9/11.
He passed further background checks for his position as a Major in the Army Reserve and as a volunteer with the Bladen County Correctional Center.
He has never been convicted of a crime.
He has never been found in contempt of court.
He was awarded the Bronze Star medal by the US Army for service during his recent deployment.

Finally, he acknowledged, “I did have my pilot's license suspended once upon a time for 90 days for flying too low over my home of White Lake. We all have to make some mistakes!”

Thank goodness the Primary is almost here! Since I have no primary opponent, my name is not on the Primary Ballot, but neither is McIntyre's. I have been focusing on voters of this district on the one and only race in district 7 - the one that will be decided on November 4th 2008.

I have begun challenging McIntyre's campaign through the media and by letter to schedule at least 3 face to face - Breazeale vs McIntyre - debates before the November election. If McIntyre believes his positions on the issues are superior to mine, he should have no problem defending them on a debate stage.

The truth is he is ashamed of his liberal voting record and ashamed of the the standard bearers of his party: Hillary and Obama. That is evident in his refusal, as a Super Delegate for the Democrat Party, to endorse either of them!

My "Fair Heath Plan", I am happy to report, is receiving favorable response from all over NC and SC. So far, I have only revealed it in speeches to Medical Societies, but soon I'll put the details on our website. Doctors who have heard it are excited that there is finally a candidate who understands health care from all angles: the poor, insurance, illegal immigrant, emergency room care, etc. I am also happy that health care professionals are opening their wallets to this campaign as well, including a recent donation from a Physician member of the Lumbee Indian Tribe.

Our campaign is busy preparing to utilize the many College / Young Republicans who have volunteered to work this summer. These young people are energetic and committed. If you would like to provide a place for one or more students to stay this summer, please email us to let us know!

Saturday was a busy day....I competed in a triathlon held in my hometown of White Lake, NC. Swimming 750 yards in the open waters of White Lake, biking 14 miles around the lake, then running 3.1 miles to the finish line. This was great preparation for the race I am in with a November 4th finish line! Nothing inspires people more than to see their candidate for Congress running to a strong finish! I was also thrilled to see Whitney Cook of Wilmington wearing a Breazeale for Congress T-Shirt during the competition!

After the triathlon, I ran (OK for this leg I drove) to Oak Island for a speech to fellow Veterans of Foreign Wars members. Their applause and encouragement reinforced the fact that veterans want a change in leadership in this district. It means so much to them that they have as a Congressional candidate someone who made the sacrifice, just as they did, by serving in the military. A candidate who knows first hand the dangers and difficulties involved in fighting for our country. They recognize that McIntyre only knows what he has been told in Washington committees or what he has
seen on junkets or whirlwind visits to bases - being treated as a VIP, only seeing what the "Brass" wants him to see. They know that I will continue to serve our country after I am elected making this a safer and stronger nation.

My personal tradition of service will continue through programs like Fair Health - to improve our citizens' access to affordable health care and Fair Tax - to stimulate our economy!

As you read this, I am piloting a 737 for Airtran Airways 41,000 feet above the earth, serving the passengers by safely transporting them to exciting destinations on the west coast for work or pleasure, however nothing is more exciting to me than the prospect of winning this Congressional race for

Hello all!

The schedule continues to be busy and the money keeps on coming in! As you read this, I am doing a week of Army Reserve duty in Charlotte rewriting a regulation on our training standards. I am often asked, how can you be a Major in the Army Reserve AND run for Congress?

The answer is in my status. Since I am a soldier in the Army Reserve, I can be a federal candidate. If I were in the active or full-time Army, I could NOT be a candidate because of the Hatch act provided for in Federal law.

I disagree with this act concerning full-time soldiers but it is what it is for the time being. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina still serves as a Colonel in the Air Force Reserve and is the highest profile Reservist in Congress. When it comes to my duty in the Army Reserve, I place it as higher priority than my campaign because of my sense of duty to our country. I will have at least another week of duty before the election in November, but rest assured that while I am away at duty, my great staff and county coordinators are hard at work!

I am very encouraged by the number of fundraising house parties people from all over the district have scheduled in May. There is even a stretch where we have 5 parties in four days! This is key to getting the word out as well as adding to our cash on hand for advertising this fall.

The neediest county in the 7th Congressional District is Robeson County. The Lumbee Indian tribe, which constitutes a major part of the county, thanks too the efforts of Senator Elizabeth Dole, is now closer to receiving $80 Million in federal funding. A disturbing statistic that came out as part of the story on her pending legislation, it came out that Robeson County is the POOREST county in North Carolina. This is particularly disturbing since our sitting Congressman, Mike McIntyre (until election day) has been in office for almost 12 years and this is his home county! He cannot help his own county, much less the rest of the district. You see, what matters is not only how a Congressman votes on an issue, but how he FIGHTS for that issue and and the people involved. McIntyre is content to take all of us for granted because he has felt up until now, his job is safe.

I took my campaign to a Hilliary Clinton function in Fayetteville a few days ago. What I found was that the majority of the Democrats I spoke with LOVE the Fairtax!

A Democrat I met this week sent the following e-mail to my Campaign Web site:

"You have my vote! I will be voting outside of my partyaffiliation for the first time. I am a huge Fair Tax supporter and your position on that issue alone wins my vote. I truly believe that most all of the major problems facing our country can be addressed by implementing the fair tax. I hope we can start a tax revolution, and I know the Congress is the best place to start.

This is just one issue that will attract many Democrat votes to me in this election. McIntyre is running scared of this issue, he is trying to publicize his sponsorship of the "Tax Fairness Act", a bill in Congress that would preserve the IRS and the income tax. He claims that it satisfies the desire for reforming the tax code. But it is clear that if the income tax remains and the IRS stays in place the big spending social engineers will continue to play their games with the tax code. Instead of defending his liberal positions, McIntyre is trying to steal my conservative issues! How Conservative was he being when he voted to place Nancy Pelosi two heartbeats from being President? Dear FairTax supporters: The FairTax campaign was very visible April 15th in Washington, D.C. when we delivered, along with the National Taxpayers Union, more than 160,000 FairTax petition signatures to Rep. John Linder and other FairTax co-sponsors.

We are not there yet with a majority but this represents the greatest number of co-sponsors for the FairTax to date--and we're only getting stronger. Thank you. In Washington, we took the FairTax bus to Union Station where we saw even more enthusiasm for the FairTax. The bus was, of course, eye-popping and won waves and honks up throughout the city. We then stopped off halfway to Capitol Hill where we found IRS headquarters surrounded on tax day with 30-40 police cars. "Just a normal precaution," a Metro police captain told us. He was friendly and curious about the issue and after ten minutes of earnest talk he and five other officers asked if they could have FairTax caps. "Sounds really good to us and we wish you luck," he said. "No problem pausing the bus for a few photos," he said, "and good luck on your national campaign; we all need it."
The FairTax bus, flanked by DC Capital Metro police cars, at the IRS headquarters in Washington on Tax Day. It was then on the Rayburn House Office Building where we proudly carried our blown up petition poster and 103,000 FairTax.org petition names bound in four handsome books. We met up the new leader of the National Taxpayers Union who brought 63,000 more petition names to the event. We think it very healthy that other organizations are coming on board as excitement for our worthy cause grows. We presented the petitions, talked with many co-sponsors and snapped photos for hometown releases for the next hour. FairTax House sponsor Rep. John Linder was appreciative and complimentary and continues to push hard inside Congress. The voice of so many citizens strengthens his hand, of course. The petition will now be broken down by Congressional district and sent along to Members of Congress who have not yet come aboard as co-sponsors of H.R. 25 and S. 1025 and will be sent to each of the leading Presidential candidates. Thank you for your support and for your belief that "We, the People," can direct government policy. Together, we are moving the FairTax closer and closer to being enacted into law. Wilmington, NC – On Income Tax Day, April 15^th, local Congressional Candidate and pilot Will Breazeale is highlighting his drive to end the IRS and the Income Tax in favor of the Fair Tax. He will fly to an airport in each of the 10 counties that make up the 7^th Congressional District, culminating is a rally at the Air Wilmington facility at the Wilmington Airport.

The Fair Tax is a plan to abolish the Federal Income Tax on individuals and businesses and replace it with a federal retail sales tax and credits to individuals that effectively eliminate the new tax on the amount spent on basic necessities of life. The plan would reduce drastically the

Benny - Will's iraqi friend and interpreter arrives

When Will was in Iraq, he needed a good interpreter to help in his mission to
thrain the Iraqi army to handle the security in their area of northern Iraq. He
got that and more in Benny - Bangin Al-Dosakee. Turns out he is a computer
guru as well, when their computers had problems, Benny could help. Will also
said his only worry with Benny in the backseat with a loaded AK-47 was about
safe handling of the firearm, not the intentions of the man doing the handling.

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- He helped American troops fight in the war in Iraq. Now an Iraqi citizen is getting a unique education in American politics.
He's hitting the campaign trail with a local congressional candidate[Will Breazeale].
Bangin Al-Dosakee was greeted with applause and handshakes at the Fayetteville airport Thursday. For the first time in his life, he is experiencing what many sometime take for granted -- freedom.

OP ED - Two Mike McIntyres

There seems to be two Representative Mike McIntyres. One is the conservative Blue Dog Democrat Mike that shows up when he needs the support of the people. The other is the liberal Mike that follows the lead of Speaker Nancy Pelosi when casting his votes in Congress.

On two separate occasions Liberal Mike has voted, supposedly, to correct the rising cost of gas. The first time he only addressed a very small part of the problem. He voted with the Liberals to crack down on price gouging and fight against those who attempt to fix the price of oil. Had Conservative Mike been in Washington the day of the vote he would have realized that the increase was due to lost or damaged refineries and the price of crude oil from OPEC among other things.

Liberal Mike voted against allowing floor debate on H.R.5254, the Refinery Permit Process Schedule Act. [Bill HR 5254 resolution H RES 842; Roll Call 2006-228 on June 7, 2006 that would expedite the permit process and allow more oil refineries therefore and lower the cost of fuel.]

The second time Liberal Mike joined, lock step, with Nancy Peloci to try and correct the high cost of gasoline was to attack the big bad oil companies for making too much money and receiving tax payer subsidies, tax breaks and royalty relief. Now, who would have voted to give these mean nasty oil companies those tax breaks? You guessed it; it was Mike McIntyre. [Energy Policy Act of 2004; Bill HR 4503 to authorize $25.7 billion tax break over a 10-year period. The tax breaks include $11.9 billion to promote oil and gas production; Roll call 2004-241 on June 15, 2004. Also HR.6; Roll call 2003-630 on November 18, 2003.]

Lately, Liberal Mike has voted to end the “Bush Tax Cuts” that Conservative Mike voted to pass. It is seriously troubling that these two people seem to occupy the same body.

Mike’s actions are not conservative. In the 7^th District, it is time to replace “I can’t make up my mind Mike” with Will Breazeale- the real Conservative in NC-7.

Hello from the front lines of politics!

I have big news for the upcoming week! This Thursday, April 3rd at 3:15pm, I am holding a press conference at the Fayetteville Airport to welcome my Iraqi interpreter from Northern Iraq: Bangian Aldosakee, known as “Benny” to those of us in the coalition forces. Benny served as my interpreter in all sort of combat situations for a year while I was advising the Iraqi Army from 2006-2007. He is brave, talented, and loves America. Benny has recently legally immigrated to New York State and is coming to Southeast N.C. to campaign with me as my special guest. Benny will be here April 3^rd thru the 18th and will make many appearances all over our Congressional District. I hope all of you can be at our press conference and welcome celebration for Benny on April 3^rd! This may be the only chance in your life to meet an Iraqi Citizen visiting in our area with such a great story to tell!

What a great week I have had. I was honored by the presence of Representatives John Linder (R-GA) and Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA) at a house party fundraiser for my campaign last Friday night in Newnan, GA. The fundraiser was attended by pilots, managers and corporate officers of Airtran Airways in financial and moral support of our campaign. Rep. Linder, who also happens to be a fellow FairTax supporter, made a great point to the crowd: Mike McIntyre, our Democrat competition, is a nice guy, but his votes in Congress are NOT in keeping with the conservative values McIntyre claims to represent. Rep. Linder also made a point that if you value me bearing your burdens as a candidate campaigning 80 hours per week in order to represent you in Congress in the way you should be represented, then show you support by "writing a check!" I could not agree more. Today is the last day to give before our quarterly report deadline. Please take your credit card out and donate on our website.

This past week also found me on stage with Sen. Fred Smith and Lee Greenwood in Fayetteville. That followed an event for our campaign at the Fayetteville North Regional Library. Most of my supporters also left after our event to attend the Smith event. A very good evening!

Thursday night I was honored to speak at a fundraiser event for South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham in Spartanburg, SC.

Tuesday night saw me meeting with a group of students at the UNCW campus in Wilmington. What a great bunch of young people, all taking an active interest in politics!

Wednesday started off with a long visit on the Curtis Wright show on The Big Talker FM. Callers had several interesting questions – particularly one about what I would actually do in Washington, was I all talk about what was wrong or would I follow through with positive action. I answered that, as one of 435 members of the House I would promise to take a positive, conservative stand against increased taxes and pork barrel spending. That I would work with other like minded members of Congress and NC state officials to convince a majority to vote with us on the important issues. I am already building those “bridges” now with my contacts during the campaign with people like Representatives Linder and Westmoreland, Senators Elizabeth Dole, Richard Burr and Lindsey Graham, NC Representatives Foxx, Hayes, Myrick, and McHenry, Senator Fred Smith and Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory. By building this network now and by growing it between now and November, when I am sworn in next January as the new Congressman from the 7^th District of North Carolina I will be off and running and ready to make a positive difference.

The District 7 Convention is this coming Saturday, April 5th in Bolivia. I hope to see all of you there as we confidently stride toward winning this race!!!!

Hello all!

This week will be a key one in our campaign to elect me as your next Congressman. Below are the events I will be attending this week:

Tonight I will be at UNC-Wilmington at 7:00 pm.

Tuesday morning at 8:00 am I will be appearing on the Curtis Wright show at the Big Talker FM in Wilmington (96.7 and 103.7 FM).

Also on Tuesday after our event in Fayetteville, I will participate in Lee Greenwood's concert for the Fred Smith for Governor campaign at Methodist University. (For more details see the paragraph below).

Tuesday evening at 5:30 pm we are holding a fundraiser in Fayetteville with fans of my endorsement of the FairTax.

Friday we’ll be having a huge event in Newnan, GA, near Atlanta, organized by my fellow pilots at AirTran Airways in which will Congressmen Linder and Westmoreland, both Republicans from Georgia will be speakers.

Saturday morning I'll be campaigning at the Planter's Day festival in White Oak, NC in Bladen County.

Then at 4:00 pm. I will be giving a speech at the Politician's Appreciation Day in Elizabethtown.

I will be making a special announcement with Fred Smith and Lee Greenwood just before honoring our veterans with Lee's "God Bless the USA." Anyone attending our fundraiser, which begins at 5:30 pm, right before the Lee Greenwood concert are invited to Fred's fundraiser concert where they will have special reserved seating (Fred's campaign is asking for a $25, per person, donation to his campaign). What an exciting night!!!!

Mcintyre's flip-flops continue....McIntyre supported the Iraq War resolution to attack Iraq in 2002. Last year, he voted with his leader, Nancy Pelosi, the very liberal Speaker of the House – his first vote in 2007 was to elect her speaker! - to immediately withdraw all troops from Iraq no later than April 2008. Now, McIntyre says the soldiers need to stay until Iraq's government is strong enough to run their own country. The people of District 7 deserve a Congressman who shows leadership, not one who changes his position like a weather vane in a hurricane! On November 4th the voters will show Mike McIntyre that they want this Veteran -- and not a trial lawyer -- representing them in Congress!

Democrats - the Party of Lawyers

The Democratic Party has become the Lawyers' Party. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are lawyers. Bill Clinton and Michelle Obama are lawyers. John Edwards, the other former Democrat candidate for president, is a lawyer and so is his wife Elizabeth. Every Democrat nominee since 1984 went to law school (although Gore did not graduate.) Every Democrat vice presidential nominee since 1976, except for Lloyd Benson, went to law school. Look at the Democrat Party in Congress: the Majority Leader in each house is a lawyer.

The Republican Party is different. President Bush and Vice President Cheney were not lawyers, but businessmen. The leaders of the Republican Revolution were not lawyers. Newt Gingrich was a history professor; Tom Delay was an exterminator; and Dick Armey was an economist. House Minority Leader Boehner was a plastic manufacturer, not a lawyer. The former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist is a heart surgeon.

Today, we are drowning in laws, we are contorted by judicial decisions, we are driven to distraction by omnipresent lawyers in all parts of our once private lives.

Breazeale Signs No Earmark Pledge

Washington, DC – Declaring his intention when elected to Congress to forego “Earmarking,” - the practice by which members of Congress divert taxpayer funding to special projects outside of the normal competitive and merit-based review process – Congressional Candidate Will Breazeale (R NC-7) has signed the “Earmark Pledge”.

Striking a cord for fiscal responsibility, Breazeale said “If a project in my district needs and deserves Federal funding I will submit that as a bill or as a budget request – which will be held up to the daylight of public debate and a vote by Congress. I will not request or support these earmarks that go outside of the regular legislative process!”

THEREFORE, I, _Will Breazeale__, in my capacity as _Congressman_, do hereby pledge that I will personally support spending reform in Congress by refusing to seek, support, or enact earmarks during the appropriations process for fiscal year 2009.

Be sure to check our calendar of events as we are always booking events near you. We are also receiving calls from many organizations to book me as their speaker. I enjoy campaigning, meeting new people and listening to their opinions. If asked to speak to a group, they don’t get a “canned” stump speech like many politicians give. My remarks always come from my heart, not a paid speechwriter. You can count on an interesting and honest speech with maybe a little humor mixed in as well!
McIntyre has been turning down speaking engagements at a record pace. Whenever it seems our paths are going to cross on the campaign trail, he fails to show up at the event. McIntyre is avoiding me at all costs, which is really bad for you. You the voters should be able to listen to both our views and see the contrast. How can you make an informed choice only hearing one half of the argument? Why is he playing hide and seek with his constituents?
I participated in a national conference call earlier this week concerning the Democrat’s new budget which renders the largest tax increase in history, over $500 Billion Dollars. Do not worry yet, President Bush will come to the rescue with his veto pen, but this situation just shows how important it is for Republicans to take back the House of Representatives. But, staple your wallets shut if the Democrats keep the House and Senate and take over the Office of the President in November 2008.
Thanks to all of you for your encouraging letters and emails. I want to especially thank State Rep. Carolyn Justice of Pender and New Hanover Counties for her support of this campaign. She is wise and energetic and like you, realizes that we need more military experience in Congress to keep us safe.
Saturday I attended a BBQ at State Senate Candidate Bettie Fennell’s home and while there I gained the endorsement of Republican Pender County Commissioner George Brown and Pender School Board member Doris Carlton. What a great bunch of people we have representing us here in the district!

Wilmington, NC – Order iced tea in Southeastern North Carolina and the waitress will expect you want it “sweet” – with lots of sugar, that is the way many people take it here. Democrat Congressman Mike McIntyre (NC-7) is a fan of sugar as well, to the tune of some $30,000 just since last April. That is how much “Big Sugar” contributed to his campaign in the past year.

According to the NC Dept. of Agriculture web site, sugar is not an NC grown crop or product. These donors to McIntyre’s campaign are predominately from Florida. What is the connection? Why does “Big Sugar” care if McIntyre has enough money to run for re-election?

McIntyre sits on the Agriculture Committee – where the price guarantees for sugar producers originate. H.R 2419 is the reauthorization bill that includes the “sweet deal” for Big Sugar. A very sweet deal! Under this ongoing deal – which H.R.2419 would extend until at least 2012 – the sugar producers get a guarantee from Uncle Sam that if they cannot sell their sugar on the free market for the guaranteed price, Uncle will buy it from them at that price. Besides that, Uncle Sam slaps a tariff on imported sugar to further support the price.

The bill also provides for Uncle Sam to buy sugar at the artificially inflated prices from the producers and then sell it at deep discount to the companies that produce ethanol! What a great idea from McIntyre’s Democrat controlled Congress. Funnel taxpayer’s cash to sugar producers and then sell the sugar at a loss! No wonder this country is Trillions of dollars in debt and the dollar is dropping in value!

By contributing to McIntyre’s campaign “Big Sugar” expected his favorable vote on the bill. They got it.

What did “Big Sugar” get for their money? Not only did McIntyre vote for the whole bill containing the extension and revamping of the sugar program – which he could claim was a vote for other “important” sections of the bill - he voted against an amendment that would have stripped just the sugar program from the bill. (Roll call 751)

Why do you care? Well, the price of Sweet Tea and all other products using sugar are higher because the price of sugar is artificially high. Other products manufacturers move out of the USA so they can buy sugar cheaper.

Sugar is so inexpensive in other countries – like Brazil – that they use it, rather than corn, to make ethanol for fuel. The Government Accountability Office estimates that the sugar program costs US consumers as much as $2 billion a year in higher food prices. Add to that the jobs lost, the taxpayer’s costs and the $30,000 to McIntyre is a drop in the bucket!

Breazeale Applauds GOP Senators for Illegal Immigration Bills

Elizabeth Dole (NC-R), for bringing forward a set of bills that would address many of the issues of illegal immigration. “We have to deal with this problem in a straight forward manner. These bills are not the amnesty proposals put forward by Pelosi and Reid, said Breazeale. “If these bills can be passed – either now or after we Republicans take back Congress next November – we will see a marked reduction in the number of illegal aliens and in the damage they do to our economy.”
Several of the bills would: • Block federal funding from cities that bar their police from asking about immigration status.• Give the Department of Homeland Security the authority to use information from the Social Security Administration to locate illegal aliens.• Require construction of 700 miles of fencing along the Southern border.• Impose sanctions on countries that refuse to repatriate their citizens.• Deport any illegal alien just for one drunken-driving conviction.• Enable local and state police to enforce federal immigration laws
“Of particular importance is the deportation of illegal aliens convicted of crimes, particularly DUI”, remarked Breazeale. “We have really started to reduce the DUI deaths in this country and too many now are from illegal aliens with serial DUI records.”

Hello again!

This has been a pivotal week in the campaign. Fox News in New York interviewed me last week for a story to air during the Brit Hume report as early as Tuesday. I will send you an email alert when we find out the exact time. This national exposure is wonderful, increasing the Campaign’s visibility and can bring in support and donations from all across the country!

This national exposure will also mean other opportunities for high profile interviews partly because of my Iraq War Veteran status. People do trust veterans, not just for what we have already done, but for what we say and we will do. They trust veterans to get things DONE! With the current Congress’ approval rating (22%), the people are demanding Representatives who will say what they mean and do what they say! I promise you that this Veteran will fill that bill!

I had a wonderful time speaking to the Pender County GOP Salute to Veterans as their keynote speaker. State Representative Carolyn Justice and County Chair Bob Muller were excellent hosts. Both told me with complete confidence that based on my qualifications to be our next Congressman and their efforts I will win Pender County. The members of the Pender County GOP are ready for a change and are ready to work with us for that change. State Rep. Carolyn Justice presented me with a NC Flag she had flown over the State House in Raleigh to honor my military service. This is one of the most meaningful gifts I have ever received and I look forward to hanging it behind my desk in Washington this January!

I look forward to walking thru Pender County with Caroline and their Republican Sheriff (one of only two in the whole district) meeting the voters and listening to their ideas on how to improve things in the County.

Newsflash: The Democratic Congress is at it again. In a display of their total lack of understanding about what it takes to serve in the military, the Democrat controlled Congress formed a Guard and Reserve study group. The group not only did not recommend improving the retirement system for the reserves but instead recommended to impose that same retirement scheme on the active military. Currently the members of the active force who retire after their 20 years can start to collect their well-earned retirement immediately while reservists must wait until age 60 to start receiving their money, even if they retire years earlier. This will devastate our active forces and cause difficulties for the Reserve forces trying to fill the void. There will be even less incentive for active members to stay in until retirement. This wrong-headed idea is similar to what happened when the Democrats controlled Congress in the early 1990s. They reduced base pay retirement to 40% from 50% also to "save money." The Army is still recovering from the loss of those valuable, trained and experienced Soldiers. The ignorance of the current Congress concerning military operations and personnel is surprising and dangerous. There is a serious disconnect between the Democratic Party and the military that worries me. Time and time again the Democratic Party has shown it will NOT take care of our military when needed.
This is exactly why I am running. There are too many lawyers and not enough of a cross section of regular people in Congress. There are too many self serving people in Congress and not enough public servants.

This Thursday I am attending an Iraq War Veterans for Congress event in Las Vegas, on Friday the Bladen County GOP Convention, and on Saturday the New Hanover GOP Convention. I am also excited about upcoming major fundraisers we are having in Fayetteville and Newnan, GA! Hope to see you at one of these events!

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Will Breazeale, a Republican running for North Carolina’s 7th Congressional District seat, recently signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge sponsored by Americans for Tax Reform (ATR). The Pledge to the taxpayers of the district and to the American people commits signers to “oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses … and oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates."

ATR has offered the Pledge to all candidates for federal office since 1987. To date, President George W. Bush, 41 U.S. Senators, and 194 members of the U.S. House of Representatives have signed the Pledge. Additionally, seven Governors and over 1,200 state legislators have signed the Pledge.

Breazeale's pledge was witnessed by fellow Pledge signers Sen. Elizabeth Dole(R-N.C.) and Rep. Robin Hayes (R-N.C.).

“Americans are looking for candidates committed to fiscal responsibility and pro-growth economic policies,” said Grover Norquist, president of ATR.

A recent report in the Washington Post contains some insight into the efforts to bring about a victory in Iraq - for both the US and the Iraqis.

Since his return from Northern Iraq, Army Reserve Major and Congressional Candidate Will Breazeale has been saying "We need to let the Iraqi Army and police that we have trained take the lead in their own country, give them the the opportunity to lead themselves to Victory".

Breazeale, as a training officer living and working with the Iraqis, saw first hand how, like a kid on his first bicycle, the first solo ride may be wobbly and there may be some tumbles along the way, when urged or even forced to do so find that they really have all it takes to do the job.

Washington Post reporter Joshua Partlow wrote:

With just 2,000 American soldiers to patrol a city of 1.8 million people -- the Iraqi Sunni insurgency's most formidable urban stronghold -- the U.S. military strategy in Mosul relies to an unprecedented degree on the Iraqi security forces. U.S. military officials here say there will be nothing like the "surge" of thousands of American troops that helped ease the fighting in Baghdad and no major effort to search for insurgents block by block.
Instead, they are betting that 18,200 Iraqi soldiers and police can shoulder the load against the kaleidoscope of insurgent groups fighting in the city.
"We see the Iraqi security forces, more and more, take the lead and take the fight to the enemy," said Maj. Adam Boyd, the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment's intelligence officer.
"You do see a capability that we have not seen before."
In recent months, three Iraqi army battalions have returned to Mosul from deployments in Baghdad. The Interior Ministry has approved 2,000 additional police recruits for the city, and a new Iraqi operations command is coordinating the efforts of the Iraqi security forces.

Breazeale responds "This is exactly what I expect to happen as Iraqi troops and police are placed in the lead positions, allowed to do the jobs we have been training them for. We can take the training wheels off, send them on their way. The new bike might get mangled but the rider will get better."

"The odd numbered Iraqi Army Divisions (1st, 3rd, 5th etc.) are especially key to the country's success because these Divisions are comprised of a mixture of Sunnis, Shias and Kurds from all over the country. If these key divisions can succeed without our help, the country will succeed," continued Breazeale. "This HAS to be tested now like the successful test the British did in the Southern Iraqi town of Basra, before any mass redeployment is considered"

The American commanders in Mosul said their approach takes into account the lessons of previous U.S. offensives, in which soldiers flooded a violent area only to find that their targets had fled or were indistinguishable from other civilians. The Americans are relying on the Iraqi army to develop intelligence that will lead to specific raids to capture individual insurgents.
"You can't just bring in the whole United States Army and go room to room of the entire city and then leave," said Maj. Thomas Feltey, the executive officer of a U.S. squadron in Mosul. "The bad guys will wait. We don't know who they are."

"We could go into a room full of people suspected of being insurgents and we had no way to tell who was and who wasn't, but the Iraqi's could look them over and pick out the bad apples," said Breazeale. "They know their own people much better than we ever can."

According to Breazeale, the way to win in Iraq and allow the bulk of our forces to return home is to train the Iraqis, assist them while they train and then send them out to defend and protect their own country.

Greetings, fellow lovers of Freedom!

My life has now come full circle beyond my wildest dreams. As a 20 year old college student in 1988, I was faced with a pivotal choice in my life: Would I commit to an 8 year obligation to U.S. Army by staying in ROTC my last 2 years of college and becoming an officer. It was a hard decision to make. I was getting tired of going to summer camp at Fort Jackson and Fort Bragg getting bitten by ticks and sweating in the NC sun while my friends were having fun in Myrtle Beach. I needed guidance. My guidance came from Sen. Bob Dole who was campaigning for President in Florence, SC. Here was a man who wore his battle scars with humility and honor while campaigning to be President. He earned my salute and my desire to be like him. Saturday night, I was honored to introduce Bob Dole as the keynote speaker of the Brunswick County Republican Party's Lincoln Day dinner to over 200 people in attendance.

Part of Bob Dole's message was to remind people the urgent need for Republicans to take back the Congress of the United States. If either Obama or Clinton become President we will see the most liberal agenda this country has ever seen and Republicans in the Congress are the only chance of stopping it. Our race is one of 48 in the country in districts that votes Republican for President and Senate, but for some reason elect a Democrat to Congress. I reminded the crowd of McIntyre's flip flopping on his previous positions, that he may have been conservative once but now it seems McIntyre's motto is: "Ask not how I can represent my district, but what I can do for Nancy Pelosi."

McIntyre has also continued a troubling campaign of presenting checks through out the district representing taxpayers’ money, some from pork barrel earmarks or by his taking credit for money, like Homeland Security Grants or Department of Agriculture rural development loans our district would receive with or without his presence. I have promised to follow Sen. John McCain and Rep. Flake and not submit any earmarks. Any money I deliver to the district will be due to a bill or budget item that gets full debate and is voted on by Congress – no back room, dead of the night earmarks that McIntyre seems to love.

From Chicago - Like you, I have to work for a living, not using your tax money paid salary while campaigning, like McIntyre does. As a pilot of an Airtran Airways Boeing 737 serving cities all over this great country, the more I travel, the more I realize how blessed we are to live in Southeastern NC!

I officially filed with the State Board of Elections in Raleigh on 11 Feb by submitting the $1,652 filing fee and signing numerous forms. See this link for the Associated Press interview! My name will now be on the ballot on 6 May (the Republican Primary) and on 4 Nov (the general election). We have come a long way in this fight to place this important congressional seat in Republican hands. I am ready for the long and tough road ahead with your help as well!
We held a successful fundraising house party in Fayetteville this past Friday and have also started the process of receiving feedback about the dynamic healthcare plan I am working on. Skip Town without Passing Bipartisan FISA Legislation

Washington- After continually blocking a vote on bipartisan FISA legislation this week, Mike McIntyre (NC-7) and the Democrats are leaving town without reauthorizing the Protect America Act, stranding our law enforcement with outdated laws and simultaneously putting millions of American lives in danger. House Republican leaders and the President of the United States said that they were committed to remaining in Washington until the people's business is done, but Mike McIntyre and the Democrats have chosen inaction and are skipping town, allowing the current FISA law to expire this Saturday, February 16, 2008."Mike McIntyre and his Democrat Party in Washington proved once again today that they have completely squandered their new majority in favor of political games, reckless tactics and an extremely liberal legislative agenda," NRCC Communications Director Jessica Boulanger said. "Delaying a vote on this critical legislation is completely irresponsible." Today's National Review summarized the current situation:
"Here is the bottom line: The legal authority for the United States intelligence community to collect foreign intelligence — information that protects Americans from terrorist attacks and that our soldiers in harm's way rely on to do their duty — will expire at midnight on Friday. DEMS MCINTYRE AND SHULER PLAY POLITICS WITH FISA

RALEIGH—Rep. Mike McIntyre (NC-7) and Rep. Heath Shuler (NC-11) continue to stand in the way of progress as Congress considers passing permanent FISA legislation. Yesterday, the two Democrat congressmen voted repeatedly to block a vote on the Senate’s bipartisan FISA legislation (House Roll Call 48 and 53). They have taken this position despite the fact that the bill under consideration in the House has already passed the Senate with broad, bipartisan support. The current FISA law will expire this Saturday, February 16, but McIntyre and Shuler continue to stall on passing permanent FISA legislation, leaving our intelligence community hamstrung with 30-year-old laws.
With these votes, Mike McIntyre and Heath Shuler continue to add onto their already atrocious national security records:
Both voted for weak FISA legislation which failed to ensure that the intelligence community had all necessary tools available in order to carry out their surveillance duties when the United States is at risk of an imminent attack (House Roll Call 1119)
Both voted for Democrats’ FISA legislation which would have reopened the terrorist loophole in our intelligence laws and would endanger our national security (House Roll Call 1120)
Chairman Linda Daves, North Carolina Republican Party, made the following statement:
“Mike McIntyre and Heath Shuler are reckless and irresponsible to play politics with our safety and national security. Each day they refuse to act on this bipartisan anti-terror legislation passed by the U.S. Senate is another day our families are more vulnerable to real terrorist threats. They continue to stand with liberal leader Nancy Pelosi instead of the interests of the people of North Carolina. McIntyre and Shuler love to claim to be ‘blue dog’ Democrats, but these latest votes continue to prove one thing. When it comes to Democrat leadership in Washington, the tail wags the dog.”

Hello all!

This week has been wonderful! The Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) meeting in Washington, DC gave me the opportunity to attend speeches by President Bush and Vice President Cheney. The largest part of my time there was taken up networking with many of the leading conservative voices in the United States who can help our campaign like: Gordon Liddy, Robert Novak, Wayne Lapierre and Jerry Falwell Jr. I also interviewed with national bloggers, radio shows and the Bill Maher Show on HBO. In honor of Ronald Reagan who formed CPAC and whose Presidency is celebrated at dinners this month:

Ronald Reagan said "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same…" 36% of the world's population is "Not Free." The worst offenders are: Libya, North Korea, Myanmar, Somalia, Sudan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. It will take a strong Republican Congress to ensure not only the USA but other countries continue to know freedom. This makes our victory in Iraq so important, because Iraq sits at the geographic center of mass of the "Not Free" zone between Africa and Asia. Last Saturday night in Fayetteville I gave a speech to 250 people at the Cumberland County Republican Party Reagan Day dinner. Sen. Dole and Rep. Hayes, were among the attendees. As part of my best speech, which I felt was well received, I had Sen. Dole and Rep. Hayes witness my signing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.
When I mentioned that I am strongly in favor replacing the current income tax with something like the Fairtax, a large part of the audience rose to their feet cheering in support! This really gained the attention of all present that the income tax has to go and replacing it with a new system that is Fair, Flat and hard to cheat is a popular and current issue! The campaign of the 12 Iraq War Veterans running for Congress is going well! Go to http://www.iraqvetsforcongress.com/ As part of that effort, we are asking that people across the country to give at least $25 to each Iraq War Vet in the group. Only 4000 donors at $25 each will raise $100,000! We just received one this morning from Denver, CO.

This past week Will attended the CPAC (Conservative Political Action Committee) in Washington, DC. This was an excellent place for him to meet and network with people from all over the country who can be of assistance to his campaign.

These included the Young Republicans and College Republicans. There is a vast amount of energy encased in those two groups. Several expressed interest in spending time this summer in a district with so much beautiful beach frontage. (Although actually seeing the beach with all the work we will have for them...)

The Radio row and Bloggers row were interested in interviewing Will and the other members of the Iraq Veterans for Congress group. This included nationally known blogger John Hawkins from Brunswick County .

The 12 members of the Iraq Veterans for Congress were well recognized by the attendees. The blogosphere is already abuzz with reports on Will and the others. (Googling 12 Iraq Veterans will produce lots of hits).

Several interviews were done and are showing up as Podcasts or YouTubes.

As a soldier in the Army Reserve, there comes a pride in our role protecting America. We must stay in shape and pass our physical fitness test every 6 months. If you are curious, go to www.apft.net and take a look at our standards. Can you pass the test? As I go running every morning by the homes of my neighborhood in White Lake, NC, I take pride in my decision to serve America in 1986, joining ROTC in college. In only 2 years I can retire from my part-time Army Reserve job. Many of you have asked what I would do once elected as your Congressman if the Army decides to deploy me back to Iraq or even elsewhere. Certainly I would go with my unit and NOT expect special treatment. Leaders lead from the front, not from their office.

We are still focusing on fundraising and it is paying off, but there is still a long road ahead. We have scheduled house parties, furthered our plans to bring nationally known figures to support our campaign. We are very close to a arrangement for me to appear on national TV and Radio as the most experienced Iraq War Veteran running for Congress.

Like most people I’ve been following the Presidential campaigning through the early primary states since one of these gentlemen will be our next President. Having them all right next door to the district for the South Carolina primary gave my campaign staff and I a chance to see up close and personal how these campaigns operate. We were impressed by what we saw. The strategy of Mitt Romney’s campaign particularly impressed us. While the other campaigns have hop scotched across the country picking some states where they expected to do well and ignoring others, Romney has been campaigning in them all. He won Wyoming and Michigan while doing well in several others, sort of a Tortoise and Hare strategy. Our campaign is doing the same thing – we have already campaigned in all 10 counties that make up the district, we are not counting on a just a couple of areas to pull us through. I will be the Congressmen from the entire district and intend to win the hearts and minds of all the citizens who live here.

Iraq Vets for Congress Denounces George Soros' Attacks

Peekskill, NY/January 25, 2007 The "Center for Public Integrity," a front group for billionaire George Soros, has published another "study" intended to distract attention from recent progress in Iraq.

The study rehashes the old canard that President Bush led the country to war under false pretenses.

With promising signs of real progress in the past year 75% of Baghdad is now secure, up from just 8% a year ago Soros and his brigade of leftists can't stop thinking about defeat.Kieran Michael Lalor, the founder of Iraq Veterans for Congress, a group of Republican Iraq war veterans running for Congress, said his campaign wasn't surprised by the latest effort by Soros to spread lies about what's really happening in Iraq. "But what's disappointing is the media's unwillingness to expose the demonstrated bias of those involved with the report. American military men and women in Iraq don't expect much from George Soros, but it's hard to swallow lazy reporting that enables his lies.

"The study claims that the Bush Administration issued false statements about the security threat posed by Iraq. The study is absurdly misleading, as are news reports discussing it.As noted at HotAir.com, "by stopping the research at 2001, the story is set-up to misreport the facts. The Clinton administration spent years warning the public of the threat of Saddam and his WMD. They even bombed a pharmaceuticals factor in Sudan on the suspicion that it was making WMD for both al Qaeda and Iraq. So the story either unintentionally or by design left out years of context.

"The organizations behind the report are funded by Soros, who has already been caught funding "studies" that spread lies about Iraq. In October 2006 , just weeks before the Election Day, the Soros-funded Lancet study made the outlandish and false claim that casualties in Iraq had exceeded 650,000 in an obvious attempt to sway voters away from Republicans as Election Day approached. The falsities in the report were immediately apparent, but it wasn't until much later that we learned of Soros's involvement.

As HotAir notes, stories written by the Associated Press and the New York Times [again] irresponsibly ignore the study's connection with Soros.

GOP Campaign Strategy Targets Earmarks

As a feisty, ambitious backbencher in the “Gang of Seven” in 1994, John A. Boehner worked with his top aide, Barry Jackson, to develop a list of conservative principles that would become the “Contract With America.”
Now House minority leader, Boehner has once again turned his attention to devising a conservative manifesto, with ending earmarks as its centerpiece. And again, there is input from Jackson, who is now a top political adviser to President Bush.

“We’ve had conversations for weeks,’’ said Boehner, R-Ohio. “Barry and I worked closely together back in the 1990s. And we’re working closely together now. We know each other. We trust each other. And we’re open with each other. He’s a perfect bridge for the administration for dealing with Congress.”

Boehner said he had also discussed priorities for 2008 with other top Bush aides he had worked closely with in the past, including Dan Meyer, a longtime lobbyist and a former top aide to former Speaker Newt Gingrich, R-Ga. (1979-99); and Bush’s budget director, former Rep. Jim Nussle, R-Iowa (1991-2007), who helped form the Gang of Seven with Boehner in the 1990s.

Boehner declined to discuss the details of the conversations but said he expects to develop a unified GOP position on earmarks in appropriations, tax and authorizing bills.

And any campaign-year agenda would need the blessing of the party’s presidential nominee, which was not a factor in planning the Contract With America in 1994.

“We’re working on priorities. And I expect we will work closely with the nominee on the prescriptions for fixing Washington,” Boehner said. “What form that takes and how it will occur has not been decided.”
Earmarks are expected to be a hot topic of conversation when House Republicans gather Thursday at the posh Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., for their annual retreat. GOP leaders will have to deal with a rift between members of their party who have grown fond of earmarks and a small but growing number of Republicans who are promising to stop asking for earmarks — and are expecting their colleagues to do the same.

Former Rep. Mickey Edwards, R-Okla. (1977-93), a manager for the Aspen Institute, a nonprofit education and research group, predicted that Boehner’s efforts to develop themes for 2008 could take months.
The Contract With America, he noted, emerged in the late summer, just before the 1994 election.
“It’s a fine line they have to walk. It’s hard to agree on a platform this early, when we don’t even know who the nominee will be,” Edwards said.

“Eventually, they may want to find 10 things they can agree on. On earmarks, they can probably agree on more disclosures and more votes on earmarks, in committee and on the floor.”
Campaigning Against Earmarks

In the meantime, conservative House Republicans are flexing their muscle on the topic of earmarks.
Jeb Hensarling of Texas, the chairman of the Republican Study Committee, joined Mike Pence of Indiana and Jeff Flake of Arizona in their campaign for a one-year moratorium on earmark requests.
Flake has been the most vocal critic of earmarks in the House, and he is doing everything he can think of to force his colleagues to confront his earmarks ideas.

As part of his strategy, he is pushing to be considered for an open GOP seat on the Appropriations Committee, saying, “If Republicans said we’re just not going to earmark this year, there is absolutely no way that the Democrats could do so.”

Normally the leaders of either party would reflexively reject the notion of putting an earmark-hater on the committee in charge of so much earmark distribution. But the current atmosphere is full of question marks.
Flake has numerous competitors for the Appropriations seat, which Roger Wicker , R-Miss., vacated at the end of 2007 to replace Trent Lott (1989-2007) in the Senate.

Other Appropriations aspirants include Tom Cole of Oklahoma, chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee; Dave Reichert of Washington; Marilyn Musgrave of Colorado; Jo Bonner of Alabama; Henry E. Brown Jr. of South Carolina; and Michael R. Turner of Ohio.
Even if Flake is turned aside this time, he can be expected to return and ask again at the end of the year, when there is more turnover in the GOP Conference and some appropriators will retire.
While Boehner has expressed interest in more limits on earmarks, he has been torn between mollifying senior Republicans who covet earmarks and more junior conservatives who abhor them.

He also has been cool to proposals for unilateral measures such as using Bush’s executive authority to ignore earmarks that have been written into committee reports but not into the actual text of legislation.

Hello to you!

The incredibly busy pace of campaigning continues! The focus this week has been fundraising and healthcare.

We are in discussions with a very successful fundraising organization that has done wonders for national Republican presidential candidates.

The organization now wants to help our campaign raise the money we need. I have important meetings coming up this week with the National Republican Congressional Campaign Committee in Washington and with our new fundraising firm. Due to the large amount of money needed to win this race, I have made the decision to temporarily concentrate on fundraising events within the district. This effort will take at least the next couple of months. We have the right message and experience for this district but unless we have enough money to get the message out, we will have a hard time being successful.

I need to focus on appearances in conjunction with fundraising such as house parties and receptions. As always, if you have a concern or question for me, I am just an email away. I will ALWAYS answer your email with a phone call or email from me...NOT a staff member!

I have continued my discussions with small business owners, hospitals, doctors and the uninsured this week. It is a lot of hard work, but I am not going to stop until I find a workable solution to our healthcare needs. Rest assured, the solution will be affordable, and will keep healthcare privately run using the benefit of competition while limiting lawsuits. The solution will also be a "pay as you go" solution, which will NOT cost taxpayers additional money! I will announce my plan in a few months with a tour of the district.

I am also excited to announce that I have volunteered my services as a pilot to transport Sen. Bob Dole from Washington, DC to Brunswick County on 23 Feb for the Brunswick County GOP Fundraising dinner.

Sen. Bob Dole is excited that Iraq War Veterans like me have entered Congressional races all over the country. He knows we need as more military experience in Congress in the dangerous world! We are in discussions with him about a possible fundraising breakfast for our campaign the morning of Feb 24 in Wilmington. More to follow!

More on Pork Barrel Earmarks

Recently Mike McIntyre has been crowing about the earmarked taxpayer's money he got slipped into bills just before Christmas. well, not so fast!

President Bush has said no. He signed the bill with the money in it but now he may issue an Executive Order to prevent the money from being spent the way Congressmen like McIntyre wanted.

The Hill reported that Bush’s depending decision to ax 9,000 earmarks worth $7
billion from the federal budget has united Republicans and Democrats alike in
Congress. How dare he slice that no-bid contract from Jack Murtha that his

Be interesting to see what Mike has to say if the President follows through.

Will has pledged not to seek any back room deals or earmarks. Any spending he sees a need for will be introduced up front and out in the open, not slipped into spending bills without a public hearing the way this $7 billion was.

Hello all!

What a week! I can honestly say that I have never had so much fun and have never worked so hard! I am riding a wave of enthusiasm from people I have met this week on the campaign trail. Our website hits have doubled this past week alone!

I have made 2 pledges public this week:

1. Fiscal responsibility: Upon my election as your Congressman, I will NOT submit ANY earmark or pork barrel requests in the federal budget or attached to any other legislation. McIntyre is hooked on earmarks trying to impress you instead of showing leadership to reduce our multi trillion dollar deficit. (Check our Blog for my article on McIntyre and his earmark addiction.)

2. Accessibility: I WILL take phone calls from anyone in our District 4 hours per week when in Congress and I WILL dedicate 4 hours a week to answering emails personally. I WILL have at least one town hall meeting in every county in this district once per year. As a military officer, I mean what I say. The above pledges will not be broken!

Last week, I congratulated Mike Huckabee for his Iowa win, this week I want to congratulate Sen. John McCain for winning the New Hampshire primary. He attributes the win to telling the voters the truth – always an excellent campaign principle.

My campaign staff traveled the short distance to Myrtle Beach this week were I personally met Oliver North, Fred Thompson, Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney before attending the Presidential Debate. All of them were interested on my take on the war based on my 3 combat tours. I am proud to say that all of them listened attentively, there is no substitute for experience – especially when it comes to the war.

A thank you to Sen. Fred Smith, Republican Candidate for Governor, for allowing me to speak at 2 of his barbecues Saturday in Bladen and Sampson Counties. These are his campaign events but he has allowed me speak to the voters assembled there. I am humbled by the confidence Fred Smith has in me and I will be anxious to work with him to better our state and district after our elections next fall!

I will be crisscrossing the district this week from the air on my day job as a 737 pilot for Airtran Airways, flying east coast routes from New York to Tampa to Newport News, VA. As I am flying over the district, my thoughts will be with you, constantly thinking of ways we can work together to improve our lives and preserve hope.

Breazeale on McIntyre’s earmarks

Rep. Mike McIntyre loves his earmarks – his pork barrel projects. He loves to bring checks from Washington back to the district. It seems like that is a full time job with him. The biggest problem with earmarks is the way Congress does them. They might be worthwhile projects but because they never have public hearings or debates about their merits, we will never really know.

Lots of members of Congress love their earmarks, and they hate to have to justify the spending. So instead of writing a bill for say $24 million to nourish the beaches and dredge the ICW - that $24 million, along with Billions for the other members’ special projects, gets slipped into other spending bills – like the one to fund the military, including pay raises, medical care for Veterans and funds for the war – never debated or even voted on.

The only time individual earmarks are voted on is if a brave member stands up and demands it. But even that rarely happens because many earmarks are snuck into the bills late at night and just before the Congress must act. The rare earmark that gets public attention – like Hillary’s Woodstock Museum for millions of dollars – get some press and sometimes get dropped out of the bill, but the Billions of dollars for the others stay right where they are and the taxpayers pay whether they like it or not.

The other problem with earmarks is that they direct where and how the money will be spent. Those should be local decisions, not left to the whim of someone in DC – someone who might never have seen the community affected by the project, let alone been to the district. Too often these earmarks are paybacks to someone with a special interest. If the mayor of a town is a supporter of the Congressman, maybe funneled several thousand dollars to the Congressman’s campaign fund, and he wants federal money for a new fire station, guess what the Congressman can slide that slice of fatback pork into the bill to fund Heath and Human Services and WOW! Look at that new fire station.

I believe that if that new fire station was really needed and was a good place to spend our federal tax dollars that it should have been introduced in a separate bill, had public hearings and voted on and sent to the President. Certainly if that happened it would be a much better system. But the best system would be to leave more tax dollars in the pockets of the citizens of the district and let them decide where to spend them. Building a new fire station is a local decision and it should be a local, maybe county or possibly a state responsibility to fund it. But it certainly should not be decided by Washington, DC and funded by federal tax dollars. Those are our dollars; don’t pick our pocket every April 15th just so Mike McIntyre can make a big show of bringing them back like a Christmas present.
When I am in Congress I will vote to remove earmarks that have not had public hearings, there won’t be any Woodstock Museums or bridges to no where. Our federal tax dollars should be spent in the bright sunshine, out in the open and not decided in the dark of the night. Soldiers on patrol in the war need night vision goggles not Congressmen in DC deciding how to spend our tax dollars.

I have to be impressed by Gov. Mike Huckabee of Arkansas on his win in Iowa. He has run a hands on campaign, doing it face to face with the voters. His hard work has paid off, he came out of nowhere and won the first round of the Presidential campaign while being outspent by his opponents. Folks, this shows 2 things: that THIS year fresh ideas can win and overcome opponents with lots of money!

This week will continue a blistering pace of campaigning in this New Year. Tuesday I am speaking with my good friends and supporters at the Fayetteville Fair Tax group. Wednesday, listen for me live on 93.7/106.3 FM from 8-9am in Wilmington, and that evening I am attending a dinner in Myrtle Beach with Sean Hannity as the guest speaker and will be speaking with Sean about a possible appearance on his national radio show and/or the Hannity and Colmes show on the FOX News Channel. Thursday, it is the Republican Women's Club of Cumberland County as keynote speaker and then I'm attending the Republican Presidential Candidates debate in Myrtle Beach. Happy New Year to all! I will join you in making resolutions this

The holidays are almost over and I would love to see you. There are a few appearances coming up this week I would love for you to participate in.
Today in Boliva, Brunswick County is the swearing in ceremony for Judge Bill Fairley who was just appointed by Governor Easley to the 13th Judicial Circuit which encompasses Bladen, Brunswick and Columbus Counties. Yes, you read right....Governor Easley has appointed a Republican to the bench and I will be there to help him celebrate! Bill Fairley is a wonderful man who is knowledgeable and trustworthy and will make a great judge. I congratulate him in his new position.

All of this however, causes me to pause and wonder what the intention of Governor Easley is with this appointment. Governor Easley may be planning a run for the U.S. Senate against Elizabeth Dole.
Brunswick County is a solid Republican County and we will see many attempts to woo Republican voters by liberal Democrats like Easley, McIntyre and HILLARY! Let's support and be happy for the GOP and
especially for Bill Fairley, but let's also be attentive to the intentions of the liberal Democratic Party.

I will be at the Wilmington Hilton at 7am on 4 Jan 08 for an Economic Presentation by a representative of the Federal Reserve followed by a radio appearance at 10am with Curtis Wright (the big talker) at the YMCA on Market Street in Wilmington to praise the work being done supporting my fellow troops with needed supplies.

Too much of my time, however, is being spent raising money via the telephone. We call it "dialing for dollars". Money is necessary, but I hate spending valuable time raising it. I SHOULD be talking to you and
your neighbors learning about you and your views on the important issues facing this district, the state and the nation. The fact is that without money, our message will not be heard by the general public.

Christmas Newsletter

It is Christmas Eve and there is one thing I would like to emphasize. The Republican Party is a party of peace through strength. "Peace on Earth" will only be achieved by having the strength to keep rogue nations and organizations in check. Veterans like myself feel for our soldiers who are paying the price, being away from their families during Christmas, but this sacrifice shows our national resolve to preserve peace and our way of life which involves freedom of religion among other rights and privileges.

Beginning 2 Jan 08 we will be in our "4th quarter" for this election. This begins the period where our campaign will do what it takes to win this race. This will involve long working hours and no days off, especially for me. Every spare minute I have, I am calling people for donations to the campaign, reading a variety of newspapers to keep up on the issues and I am looking for events to meet the most people possible to tell them our innovative ideas to better their lives and our country.

It is almost Christmas! I ask all of you to continue to pray for our soldiers and their families, as Christmas is a very tough time of year for the many families separated by distance and danger. I should know, I have spent 2 of the last 3 Christmas Days overseas in combat zones myself.

Now for this week's issues:

Victory for airline pilots and your traveling safety was accomplished this week! The House and Senate unanimously approved raising the retirement age for the nation's 80,000 airline pilots from 60 to 65. This allows pilots to financially makeup for their disappearing pensions due to the terrible effect that 9/11 had on the financial bottom line of airlines. Many airlines like US Airways and United were granted Bankruptcy Court approval to cancel their pension plans. This left my fellow airline pilots in a terrible financial position for retirement. Now pilots can work an extra 5 years to build up their savings and to provide you with more experience to serve you as you travel. It took Congress and the President less than a week to make this change in the law happen. This shows what can be done when our government works together!

Earmarks have reared their ugly head. I was reading USA Today's December 12th edition and the December 14th edition and we all know that the many US House and Senate members like to bring home the pork, but you may not know just how out of control they are! For fiscal year 2008, the House had $4.5 Billion in earmarks for an average of $10.7 Million per requesting member. This is outrageous! And much of this money is to reward contributors for funding their campaigns. The money for the earmarks is not the personal money of Members of Congress....it is YOUR tax money that they are wasting just to keep their jobs.

Mike McIntyre is guilty of the same thing. One his many earmarks included $75,000 to a golf cart company in Bladen County which gained the laughter and the amazement of local residents. When Nancy Pelosi and her Democrats took control of Congress last January, they said they would change things particularly they would end the abusive earmarks. As with nearly all the other campaign promises they made, their words did not match their actions. The Democrats continue to break their campaign promises by maneuvering to squash any scrutiny of numerous earmarks which were inserted secretly into appropriations bills. North Carolina’s taxpayers will never know if these secret projects are nothing more than a boondoggle. Think about it, do you want your hard earned tax dollars spent on Pork Barrel projects with no scrutiny? McIntyre does, he had plenty of opportunities this year to vote against earmarks - but he won’t do it – if he votes against theirs, they might vote against his!

In the meantime, I am going to ask all of you who are not looking for Pork Barrel earmarks for your continuing financial support. I would much rather have 1,000-$250 contributions than 250-$1,000 contributions!

I know, Santa is coming but so is that crucial end of the year - gotta do this so it goes on this year's taxes - is only a week after Christmas. Why do we have to do that?

If the FAIR Tax were implemented that week between Christmas and New Years would be no big deal. It wouldn't matter what you bought or paid for or donated to before the end of the year! There would be no need because there would be no income tax.

This year you can do some year end - last minute donating that could mean in future years you would not ever have to think about income taxes (at least federal ones) again.

The absolutely critical challenge in the Russell Campaign are how to "detach" conservative Democrats from the Murtha column. In the 12th District, there are twice as many registered Democrats as Republicans.

However, many of those Democrats -- up to 45% -- have shown themselves willing to vote for Republican candidates. In 2004, President Bush -- not the most popular figure in PA -- got 49% of the vote against John Kerry. In fact, Bush won Murtha's home county (Cambria).

Murtha's recent statement that "The Surge is working" reflects the fact that he's feeling the "heat" from the Russell Campaign. Many veterans in the district look at Murtha's disgraceful statements about the Haditha Marines and wonder, "Gee, what's wrong with good ole John?"

The Russell Campaign needs to convince such people that Murtha has "lost it," that he's more concerned with preserving his own political power than protecting the troops. Many Democrats are beginning to recongize that but they're not quite willing -- yet -- to vote against Murtha.

Of course, Murtha gets conservative votes because many people in the District believe "He brings home the bacon!" As I've pointed out previously -- using Bureau of Labor Statistics data -- Murtha DOES NOT bring home the bacon.

Yes, he does use taxpayer dollars to bring some "captive jobs" to the Johnstown area. However, most of the District remains economically depressed. The median household income in the 12th is one of the lowest in the state -- about the same as inner-city districts in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

Do conservative Democrats in the 12th know these things? A growing number do, but a majority still believes that Murtha has done great things for the District.

Murtha's focus in the 21st century has been to raise huge amounts of cash for his campaigns. Until the year 2000 -- and you can find this in OpenSecrets -- his campaign funds were about average, even though he rarely even had any opposition. He's had strong opposition only once in this century, but every two years he raises Brobdinagian funds that are double the congressional average.

In other words, if you want tens of millions in federal handouts ("earmarks") from John Murtha, you'd better be prepared to pony up with huge "donations." Apparentely, the funds get distributed back to various supporters, including his former aide Paul Magliochetti (of the PMA lobbying Group). Magliochetti makes millions from Murtha's actions -- and returns hundreds of thousands in campaign gifts.

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) has received tens of millions in federal dollars via Murtha. UPMC, also the former employer of Rep. Jason Altmire, is known for wildly overcharging patients and their insurers. This supposed "non-profit" generated a surplus (i.e., profit) of $460 million in the first nine months of 2007. UPMC has given more than $300,000 to Murtha in this century -- including $100,000 in 2007.

Are most conservative Democrats aware of the strange goings-on with campaign funds? Apparently, very few of them are. The notion that Murtha is "a good guy" is one of the abiding myths in the 12th District. But grown-ups eventually stop believing in myths.

There are real opportunities here for the Russell Campaign. Murtha's past electoral successes are based on illusions about who he is and what he does.

Hello all,

One day closer to the birthday of Jesus! I have never been a fan of Jesse Jackson, but I do believe in one thing he says: "Keep hope alive!" Christmas reminds me of the hope that Jesus gave us with his sacrifice and his grace for us. We have so much to be thankful for and to "hope" for in this country.

As you read this, I am campaigning hard in Sampson County and The Sampson Independent Newspaper is interviewing me. Sampson County is the only county that McIntyre lost in his re-election effort in 2006. Sampson County is solid Republican proven by the fact that they have a Republican Sheriff who I will be meeting with soon to ensure we win Sampson County in Nov 2008. This past Saturday, I attended a fundraiser for Hospice in Columbus County that was heavily attended by local physicians. I am thankful for the support from many of the dedicated physicians who deliver the excellent Health Care to the citizens of District 7.

The more I talk to people on the campaign trail, the more I realize that illegal immigration is our District's largest and most passionate issue. It really upsets me that the Mexican Government is critical of our efforts to deport illegal immigrants. I have a proposal....let's withhold Mexico's aid package from our government until they seriously help us end illegal immigration.

I was in San Diego, California this past week on a layover with my airline. I was eating at Little Italy and got into a conversation with a group of people concerning illegal immigration. EVERYONE in this liberal city seemed to be in favor of letting illegal immigrants stay. No wonder Californians like them elect Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Boxer.

Let's keep in mind that a large amount of illegal drugs like cocaine are shipped into the U.S. through Mexico. In 2000 242 tons of cocaine were shipped into the U.S. In 2005, the total increased to 397 tons! The border HAS to be secured, even if we have to triple the Border Patrol to make it happen!

The fight for the high ground continues on the campaign trail! This week has been busy. I had a wonderful time having a town hall meeting with students from Waccamaw Academy in Whiteville, NC. Another great thing is that at least half of the students I spoke to will be 18 (voting age) by Nov 2008 and they are overwhelmingly Republican! I would like to thank Mr. Nate Gergel, the government teacher at Waccamaw Academy for the invitation to speak and for his challenging instruction to his students. (My 15 year old daughter Darienne is one of them!)

I also ran a 6.2 mile race with Special Operations soldiers from Fort Bragg. Fort Bragg is hilly and windy which makes for a very challenging run. It brought back visions of when I was a ROTC cadet in 1989 at Fort Bragg when I was being tested by Army officers to make sure I had what it takes to be an Army Officer myself. I issued a challenge to the soldiers to run faster than me in the race. 109 of them did as it took me 48 minutes to cover the 6.2 miles. I drew the name of SSG George Traver of 7th Special Forces Group as the winner of a sightseeing flight over Fayetteville piloted by me for SSG Traver and his family at a date of his choosing. Congrats Sergeant!

Saturday, my aggressive campaign staff and I descended on Bladenboro, NC in Bladen County and St. Pauls, NC in Robeson County to participate in their Christmas parades. Our Democrat competition, Mike McIntyre, decided to sleep in instead of participating in the parades. He must be scared that I would debate his pro-illegal immigration stance with him in public. I also had a great visit with First Baptist Church of Dublin, NC this past Sunday as we worshipped our loving God together.

I want to announce another great addition to our campaign staff in the Campaign Photographer position: Nick Gore. Nick is a 16 year old Senior at Waccamaw Academy in Whiteville, NC and is a wonderfully talented photographer and campaigner. He is very informed on the issues and is a very conservative Republican. He will attend most parades and events to provide pictures for our press releases and website.

I heard from Kim Cotten, President of the Young Republicans of N.C. this week. She was happy to inform me that her organization has adopted our campaign as one of their focus races in the state because of our great prospect for success and our unlimited energy!

Finally, I am excited to announce that our Campaign Manager, Rob Boyce, personally talked to a Top Tier GOP Presidential Candidate about helping our campaign while he was in New Hampshire last week. We are working with the candidate’s staff to put together an event near the South Carolina border with our District...so stay tuned!

Will runs in Charity 10K - Jingle bell Jog

Ft. Bragg, NC –Will Breazeale, Congressional Candidate and Major in the Army Reserve participated in the Jingle Bell Jog 10k run at Ft. Bragg Friday Nov. 30th .

Air Tran Airways pilot Will Breazeale, helping to promote the 29th annual Jingle Bell Jog 10k run to benefit the 7th Group Association, is providing a sight seeing flight to one lucky participant. The names of runners placing ahead of him were placed in a drawing for the flight with Will at the controls of a twin engine private aircraft. United States Army Staff Sergeant George Traver, of Headquaters Service Company, 2/7 Special Forces Group was the lucky winner.

The event raises money to assist needy soldiers of 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) based at Ft. Bragg. Over 1,000 are expected to participate – serious runners as well as "fun walkers". The event is open to everyone. It begins and ends at the John F. Kennedy Plaza on Ardennes Street.

Whiteville, NC – Three American Government classes at Waccamaw Academy in Whiteville were visited by Congressional Candidate Will Breazeale on Thursday November 29th. They learned from him his election issues and discuss those and other topics. The students are planning a trip to Washington DC early next year and will use what they learn to enhance their learning experiences on the trip.

Breazeale is a three tour Veteran of the Iraq Wars and a Major in the Army Reserve. The third tour ended this past June. He expects some of the discussion will involve those related topics.

Among the students was Breazeale’s daughter, who is a student at Waccamaw Academy. The students will be invited to visit Breazeale’s Campaign web site at http://www.awilltowin.com/ where they can find additional information about his background, public statements and issues positions.

SSG Traver wins scenic flight from Will

United States Army Staff Sergeant George Traver, of Headquaters Service Company, 2/7 Special Forces Group, is congratulated on winning a sightseeing flight piloted and donated by Will Breazeale, the Republican Candidate for Congress from District 7. Breazeale is also a Major in the Army Reserve. Breazeale challenged all participants to "beat the candidate" by running faster than him in a 6.2 mile race called the Jingle Bell Jog held at Fort Bragg, NC on 30 November 2007. SSG Traver is happy to have won the prize for he, his wife and children.

Breazeale applauds agreement on Iraq War end

Fayetteville, NC – The Iraqi Government and the US are working toward an agreement by the end of next year that will result in a permanent US military presence of approximately 50,000 troops. This presence is intended to provide security and stability for Iraq and the region.

In a press briefing Monday at the White House, Lt. Gen. Douglas Lute described the agreement between President Bush and Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki which lays out a framework to the two countries arriving at an agreement like the “long-term bilateral [agreement] with Korea. There are about a hundred countries around the world with which we have bilateral defense or security cooperation agreements. You should think about the one that's emerging here with Iraq as one in that same sort of setting.”

According to Congressional Candidate Will Breazeale (NC-7), a Major in the Army Reserve who recently returned from his third tour of duty in Iraq, this agreement parallels his stated position calling for such a troop reduction and a permanent presence.

“The Iraqi security forces have the ability in many parts of their country to accept responsibility for their own protection,” said Breazeale, “The Iraqi soldiers I trained in northern Iraq this past year have what they need, we need to give then the ‘keys’ and let them drive! They need a push out of the nest – so to speak”

Breazeale also pointed out that the time may have come to reduce our presence in other places, like Korea – troops deployed to previously war torn areas – that no longer need our stabilizing presence and transfer those troops to the new and similar situation in Iraq.

Will opposes NCCC mandate to accept illegal aliens

Whiteville, NC – Responding to the news that North Carolina’s Community Colleges must now accept illegal alien students, Congressional Candidate Will Breazeale has a somewhat different take than some others quoted in the media. While he agrees with others who have decried the situation and say that if the policy stands they will support legislation to reverse the policy, Breazeale sees it as yet another symptom of the Democrat controlled Congress failing to address the overall problem of illegal immigration.

“If we think of this in terms of my airline, we have planes full of paying passengers – the citizens and legal residents – that are being weighed down by stowaways hiding in the baggage area or impersonating paying passengers – the illegals,” said airline pilot Breazeale, “The planes can still fly for a while but the airline – our society – has to pay more for fuel and maintenance on the overloaded planes and eventually the airline would have to buy more and bigger airplanes in order to keep the paying passengers in the air. Of course the price of those tickets – taxes - will have to rise and the level of service for those paying passengers will decrease as more is demanded by the stowaways.”

The blame for the community college situation lies with current members of Congress who have failed to fully address the illegal immigration problem. The solution will be new members of Congress, like him, who will bring a new determination to solve such problems according to Breazeale, a solution that will include closing the border, increasing security of our social security system, denial of public benefits including attendance of public schools and stopping all federal funds flowing to “sanctuary” cities.

Breazeale is seeking the NC-7th District seat currently held by Democrat Rep. Mike McIntyre. The district covers all or part of ten counties in southeastern North Carolina – from Fayetteville to Wilmington.

Hello all!
Hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday. I also hope you gave God thanks for everything he has blessed us with. The reason we are having such an immigration problem is this country is such a great place to live! The reason other countries hate us is they are jealous of the country we have built. Americans continue to be the most productive workers in the world! The USA is 60% of the world's economy and only 5% of the population.

Our scheduler, Ashley, has been in overdrive scheduling appearances for me! I will be speaking to government classes at Waccamaw Academy in Whiteville this Thursday followed by campaigning in downtown Whiteville. I then travel to Lumberton to give my comrades at the American Legion a speech about Iraq. This Friday morning at 9am, I will be at the Jingle Bell jog running race at Fort Bragg. I am running the 10K ( 6.2 mile) event with a BREAZEALE FOR CONGRESS shirt on. Any runner that runs faster than me will be eligible for a chance to fly on my campaign aircraft with me on 15 April 08 for a special event! I will then participate in the Bladenboro and St Pauls Christmas parades this Saturday in the campaign convertible Mustang GT! Wounded Warriors should not have to repay bonuses

Fayetteville, NC – When a soldier voluntarily re-enlists in the military and receives a bonus for doing so, the government demands it be repaid if that warrior is wounded in battle and unable to remain in the service. This is the current policy and not everyone agrees it is the right policy. Fox News is reporting that Jordan Fox – a soldier injured and partially blinded by a road side bomb in Iraq. Not only is he disabled and not able to pursue his intended career as a police officer when he finished his enlistment, but because he was injured and left the service three months short of his commitment, the government wants him to repay three thousand dollars of his signing bonus.
Congressional Candidate, Army Reserve Major and Iraq Veteran Will Breazeale joins NC Rep. Walter Jones and others in calling for an end to the practice. That policy, which also calls for repayment of such bonuses if the service member leaves the service for other reasons prior to the fulfillment of the enlistment term, has no exemption for members unable to continue due to injuries in the line of duty.
"This should change." Breazeale said “Say a young soldier re-enlisted, got married and used the bonus to qualify to buy a home for their future family. Then he deploys, is seriously wounded and discharged. Is it then fair for the government to say they are taking back the bonus? I don't think so! These warriors have fulfilled their commitment!”
Breazeale is running for the NC 7th district which extends from the Amy's Fort Bragg to the Marine Corps Camp LeJeune in southeastern North Carolina. Rep. Jones, whose district includes LeJeune to USMC's Cherry Point, is co-sponsoring HR 3793, also called the Veterans Guaranteed Bonus Act, to make this change.

Major’s Campaign Recruits a General

Southport, NC – Will Breazeale, Candidate for Congress and a Major in the Army Reserve has recruited Retired General Joseph Kinzer to his campaign.

While attending the annual Veteran’s Day event at the Golden Corral restaurant in Southport, Breazeale met Kinzer along with the many other Veterans taking the opportunity to have dinner on the restaurant chain while raising money for the Disabled Veterans. After talking at length the General volunteered to help the Breazeale for Congress campaign.

Asked what convinced him to sign on, Kinzer said “Breazeale has the right values and the right priorities, he will represent the citizens and veterans in the district well.” He went on to say “Will knows first hand what Veterans really need.”
Breazeale is one of the very few Iraq War Veterans seeking seats in Congress .His success will increase the mere 22% of the members of Congress who have served in the military, historically one of the lowest percentages of former military members in Congress.

Having served our country as an Army Reserve Officer for the past 17 years, in 3 wars (Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom) I have seen first hand the drive, determination and commitment of our servicemen and women, which always increases my confidence that our country will continue to have a bright future.In campaign news, our treasurer, Ken Pervine of Elizabethtown, just returned from a Federal Election Commission workshop held in St. Louis, Missouri. He had a great time networking with other campaigns from all over the country as well as learning how to keep our campaign operating legally and effectively. Everyone on my staff knows the importance of using every donated dollar legally and efficiently so this campaign can be successful. We also have added Mrs. Lexi Patton to our staff this past week in New Hanover County. Lexi is an incredibly bright lady who comes to our campaign very optimistic about our success, having worked in DC as a Republican Senatorial staffer and on campaigns. We have to make this happen so we can tell foreign oil to get lost!I am upset, however, to read about the Democrat Congress' lack of ability to ship Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles to Iraq in a timely manner because of a backlog in installing radio jammers in Charleston, SC. This Congress has an oversight responsibility of our government. The finger pointing has to stop and the action has to start! Our troops need those vehicles to survive in combat. MAJORITY READIES $81 BILLION DOWN PAYMENT ON THE MOTHER OF ALL TAX HIKES

Blue Dog Democrats face a difficult choice today: oppose a 130 percent tax hike on entrepreneurs and risk-takers who invest and create family-wage jobs or line up behind their party leadership's ever-expanding tax-and-spend agenda . Blue Dog Congressman Jim Cooper (D-TN) highlighted the dilemma faced by his colleagues earlier this week in CongressDaily AM:

"Why should House members have to walk the plank?" asked Rep. Jim Cooper, D-Tenn. "This is a 130-percent tax increase ."

In The Hill today, Rep. Cooper's Blue Dog colleague Rep. Tim Mahoney (D-FL) further underscored the unenviable spot many Democrats find themselves in this morning:

"There are a lot of undecideds out there, and a lot of them are Blue Dogs," said Rep. Tim Mahoney (D-Fla.), a freshman member of the moderate Blue Dog Coalition who said he would vote no on the legislation. "I'm not sure they have the votes."

Just why are Reps. Mahoney, Cooper, and dozens of their Blue Dog colleagues so nervous this morning? The Hill offers an answer:

"Several senators have signaled their opposition to the tax change, fueling concern that vulnerable House Democrats could be forced to take a tough vote on a doomed measure."

So why is the Majority leadership in the House so intent on forcing their Members into such a difficult position? That's not hard to figure out at all. The $81 billion tax hike under consideration today is a mere down payment on what Ways & Means Chairman Charlie Rangel (D-NY) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) really have in store for the American people: the Mother of All Tax Hikes. This breathtaking $3.5 trillion tax hike on – literally – every American taxpayer will be like manna from heaven for pork-barrel politicians in Congress. America's middle-class families and small businesses beware: you're going to pay the highest price of all.

According to a nonpartisan report released yesterday by the Joint Committee on Taxation, by 2011, 94 million families earning between $20,000 and $200,000 will see a tax hike under the Pelosi-Rangel Mother of All Tax Hikes, while only 800,000 families will see a tax reduction. That's in direct contrast to claims by the bill's supporters that the tax plan will reduce taxes for middle-income families and raise them only on the so-called "rich." Overall, a staggering 90 percent of American taxpayers will see a tax increase under the Pelosi-Rangel plan.

That's right: At a time when American families are feeling the crunch of spiking energy and health care costs, runaway college tuition, and steadily rising prices for consumer goods, Congress is preparing to confiscate even more of their paychecks to help pay for their pork-filled agenda. And it starts today, with the $81 billion down payment that has led to so many sleepless night for so many Blue Dog Democrats.

House Republicans stand ready to immediately implement a clean alternative minimum tax (AMT) patch that will protect 23 million Americans from paying an onerous tax they were never meant to pay in the first place. Moreover, Republicans want to permanently repeal the AMT in the long-term, make the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts permanent, and make the tax code fairer for working families and small businesses.

Will Blue Dog Democrats join them? Or will they support a 130 percent tax increase today – and a $3.5 trillion hike down the road – solely to satisfy their leadership's addiction to pork?

Hello all:

This week has been the best week so far in the campaign!!!! I AM EVEN MORE EXCITED and MOTIVATED THAN USUAL! I had an important meeting with very influential members of the Lumbee Tribe last Thursday in Lumberton, NC. The Lumbee Tribe is the largest American Indian Tribe east of the Mississippi with 50,000 members in Robeson, Scotland and Cumberland Counties in NC. The Lumbee Tribe has traditionally voted straight Democrat for McIntyre, my competition, but as a result of this important meeting, these Lumbee Leaders have decided to support our campaign to be the next Congressman from District 7 of NC!

I want to announce a few things to you:

1. I want to invite you to the Grand Opening/Ribbon Cutting of our first Campaign Office opening. Our Pembroke, NC office will open the 13th of Nov at 7pm with a cookout and fundraising reception located at 2539 Saint Anna Road, Pembroke, NC. The reception will be hosted by Ronald Brooks, a Lumbee Tribe member. (you can call Ronald Brooks at 910-374-0540 for more information) I will be there to say a few words, but more importantly, I will be there to meet you and listen to you.
2. We have heard rumors that McIntyre may have a challenger in his Democratic Primary. This will be a great thing for our campaign in many ways, so stayed tuned.
3. I taped a TV interview with Curtis Wright on WWAY TV3 in Wilmington that will air 11 Nov at 11 am on WWAY, the Wilmington ABC Affiliate. Be sure to watch!!
4. Our average hits on our campaign website (Breazeale08.com) have now reached to over 100 hits a day! Andy Liles, our director of communications, is doing an excellent job with our website!
5. The 12th of November is an important day: All Golden Corral Restaurants nationwide are hosting a free dinner to our veterans from 5-8pm. I ask you to "adopt a restaurant" where you live and pass out information on our campaign. You can simply go to our website and print off the "Meet Will" section and pass it out to veterans while standing in line or contact the campaign with other ideas or suggestions. There will be a huge crowd...believe me! We will have representatives at Clinton, Wilmington and Fayettevillle Golden Corral Restaurants......we need you to help as well!

I had 2 days of Army Reserve duty this past Friday and Saturday at Fort Jackson, SC concerning basic training support by my unit to the full-time Army. President Bush gave the graduation speech to over 1,500 of the Army's newest soldiers this past Friday during Basic Training Graduation at Fort Jackson as well. In light of all this, I had an opportunity to sit down and discuss ideas with one of the top commanders of Fort Jackson concerning today's military.

Did you know that it costs an average of $112,000 to recruit and train a soldier today? That only 4 out of every 10 young people that take the Armed Services Qualification exam even pass it with a minimal score? That only 3 out of every 10 young people that enter the Army do so without a waiver of some sort? Most of this seems bad, but there is a silver lining.....today's Army is giving young people previously thought of as "unemployable" a second chance for a productive life and many are rising to the occasion. On the other hand, more young people need to see the Army as a place for advancement and opportunity. I am asking questions to the right people and formulating exciting plans to reinvigorate our nation's military. Announcements will be forthcoming in the Spring of 2008.

Breazeale agrees with President – a Do Nothing Congress

Fayetteville, NC – Congressional candidate Will Breazeale of White Lake, NC agrees with President Bush's criticism of the Democrat controlled Congress for doing very little and that most of what they have done involved increases in taxes.

The President said Congress hasn't "seen a bill they could not solve without shoving a tax hike into it." Bush also criticized the Congress for having passed no appropriations bills even thought the new fiscal year began on October 1 st, "The leadership that's on the hill now can't get that done," he said.

Breazeale points out that the "dysfunctional Congress has no discipline, they cannot follow their own rules and they have no fiscal restraint. How can they force the government to proceed well into the new fiscal year without a spending plan? They have wasted this whole session, there needs to be a House cleaning in Congress."
As a Major in the Army Reserve and as an airline pilot, Breazeale says he truly understands "discipline, following the rules and working to a schedule!"

Another obscure bureaucrat tries to ban God

Fayetteville, NC – Three time Iraq War Veteran, Army Reserve Major and Congressional Candidate Will Breazeale decries yet another attempt by a federal bureaucrat to ban God, this time from military funeral ceremonies. “Based on only one complaint, the recitation of a script which mentions God, is now banned at Military funerals,” Breazeale said. “The reading of the script has always been optional, left to the bereaved family.” This follows the recent decision by the Architect of the US Capitol to delete the mention of God in letters accompanying flags flown over the capitol building, also a voluntary mention, requested by the person ordering the flag.

The Constitutional separation of Church and State should never be used to restrict voluntary mention of God in ceremonial occasions in Breazeale’s view. “Certainly at a funeral honoring a veteran, the family not some bureaucrat in Washington, DC should decide whether they want God to be mentioned,” he said.

The reading of a script during flag folding ceremonies at funerals and other times is not required but has become a tradition. While many of the scripts mention God in several passages, not all do so. The location and purpose of the ceremony, as well as the wishes of the family in cases of funerals, determine which script – if any – are read.
“The Capitol Architect was over ruled by action of the Congress, only after the issue became news. Will Congress take action to rectify this latest bureaucratic attempt to remove God from the lives of citizens,” according to Breazeale, “This is just another indication of what is wrong in DC, that the bureaucracy there is out of control and needs to be reigned in.”

This week a key leader in the Lumbee Tribe based in Robeson County called me, happy that I am challenging McIntyre. The Lumbee Indians are traditionally a key McIntyre base of voters numbering 50,000 people. The Lumbees are a very patriotic tribe with many Veterans. They are taking notice of our campaign and qualifications I have, that McIntyre will never possess, concerning national defense. The Lumbees also realize that it was due to a Republican, Sen. Elizabeth Dole, that their national tribal recognition was advanced. With the support of Veterans, Republicans, Religious Conservatives....it will be GAME OVER for McIntyre's re-election hopes when the Lumbee Tribe gives me their support. I will be working hard on meeting with and convincing tribal leaders in the future.

Breazeale calls for continued payments to wounded warriors

Fayetteville, NC – When a soldier voluntarily re-enlists in the military and receives a bonus for doing so, the government might demand it be repaid if that warrior is wounded in battle and unable to remain in the service. This is the current policy and not everyone agrees it is the right policy.

Congressional Candidate and Iraq Veteran joins NC Rep. Walter Jones and others in calling for an end to the practice. That policy, which also calls for repayment of such bonuses if the service member leaves the service for other reasons prior to the fulfillment of the enlistment term, has no exemption for members unable to continue due to injuries in the line of duty, Breazeale says this should change.

“Say a young soldier re-enlisted, got married and used the bonus to qualify to buy a home for their future family. Then he deploys, is seriously wounded and discharged. Is it then fair for the government to say they are taking back the bonus? I don’t think so!”

Rep. Jones is co-sponsoring HR 3793, also called the Veterans Guaranteed Bonus Act, to make this change.

White Lake, NC – Independent Iraq War correspondent Michael Yon, who embeds with various US Army and Marine units in Iraq and is funded by donations from readers of his web site, was applauded by Iraq War veteran and Congressional Candidate Will Breazeale. Calling Yon’s reports “a breath of fresh air” Breazeale commended his efforts while criticizing the main stream media’s reports.

From Michael’s web site: “Telling soldiers' stories from the frontlines is dangerous work that few do as well as Michael Yon. Risking combat injury, intense heat, sand and dust storms, and jarring explosions: the cost is crushing. Most major news organizations can't afford to keep a footprint here, yet Michael Yon does it without corporate sponsors or advertisers. He receives no funding or financial support from Fox News, or any movie, book or television deal. He is entirely reader supported.”

Yon’s latest report comes after a return trip to the US that coincided with General Petraeus’ testimony before the US Congress. “I was at home in the United States just one day before the magnitude hit me like vertigo:” Yon wrote “America seems to be under a glass dome which allows few hard facts from the field to filter in unless they are attached to a string of false assumptions.”

Breazeale echoed these observations calling the news coming from Iraq “distorted, at best, out right fabrication at worst” referring to the fabricated stories published in The New Republic called “Shock Troops” where a soldier, for his own purposes made up stories of atrocities involving himself and other US troops.

“There is real progress being made in Iraq, the US troops are performing professionally and intelligently as they train the Iraqis to take over their own security” said Breazeale who himself returned from his third tour in Iraq this past June. “Much of the area I was in, north of Baghdad, is pacified enough and the locals trained well enough that the Allied troops could start withdrawing from that area and most areas of Iraq where Iraqi Army Divisions have achieved the required strength to defeat the insurgents.”

Citing the recent report by retired Lt. Gen. Sanchez -who reported “As I assess various media entities, some are unquestionably engaged in political propaganda that is uncontrolled,” - Breazeale agrees with Yon saying “the real story in Iraq, the victories being won, the progress being made there, is not being reported to the people in the US and around the world by the media.” He continued “that is why independent reports like those from Michael Yon are so important.”
Will Breazeale is seeking the NC 7th district seat in Congress which represents southeastern North Carolina from Ft. Bragg in Fayetteville to the outskirts of Camp LeJeune near Wilmington.

The Wilmington Star News had an editorial Wednesday Applauding Rep. Mike McIntyre for flip flopping on the SCHIP bill. This is not at all surprising, since the paper is owned by the NY Times.

They do slip into an interesting point when they ask:

It's interesting to wonder what the Democratic leadership might have offered or threatened to get McIntyre to reverse himself. No doubt other Democrats are feeling similar pressure to vote the party line.

What could they promise? Campaign money? He has a million in the bank. Committee Chairmanship - he has one. What indeed could they promise him?

Now threats? - They could certainly threaten him, losing the committee chairmanship, losing other majority party perks? Or could it be what he probably really fears - an opponent in the Primary election?

MCINTYRE FLIP FLOPS OWN POSITION ON PROTECTING NC TOBACCO INDUSTRY AND PROVIDING TAXPAYER BENEFITS TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

RALEIGH—Congressman Mike McIntyre signaled that he is going to flip-flop and vote FOR the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) after having voted AGAINST the EXACT same legislation two weeks ago. North Carolina Republican Party Chairman Linda Daves asked why McIntyre had completely reversed his position on protecting the state’s tobacco industry from new taxes and the American people from providing new benefits to illegal immigrants.

“After telling the people of North Carolina that he couldn’t support a dramatic tax on the state’s tobacco industry and after consistently voting to keep that promise -- Mike McIntyre has decided to vote for the exact same bill he voted against a few days ago,” said Daves. “The same exact bill that contained a tax that he called ‘unfair’ and the same exact bill that would relax eligibility standards for illegal immigrants. “

“All I want to know is what changed? Why was it unfair to pick on tobacco and give new taxpayer health benefits to illegal immigrants two weeks ago, and not now?”

Following the September vote, McIntyre defended his vote saying it was an “unfair tax, picking on one crop,” and also saying that it was “not fair to the American people” because “illegal immigrants could qualify under the bill's relaxed eligibility standards.”

“Tobacco is a convenient target,” McIntyre said last week. “Unfortunately, here in Washington , it’s a favorite whipping boy.”

McIntyre, chairman of the Subcommittee on Specialty Crops, Rural Development and Foreign Agriculture, said he didn’t mind breaking ranks with the Democratic leadership on the tobacco issue.

A spokeswoman for Etheridge said the Congressman objects to paying for the expansion with a 61-cent increase in the tax on a pack of cigarettes, which he says would place a hardship on tobacco growers and their families. She said Etheridge does not support the bill as written and will not vote for an override.

According to today’s Wilmington Star, “In an about-face, U.S. Rep. Said Daves, “Upholding this veto would force the Democrats in Congress to compromise with the President and hopefully, we could get a strong SCHIP bill that doesn’t attack North Carolina ’s economy. Why not support that approach?”

Wilmington, NC – Rep. Mike McIntyre has indicated he will now vote to over ride a Presidential veto on a bill he originally voted against. President Bush vetoed the bill expanding the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) for being to expansive and expensive. McIntyre had said he voted against the bill over the funding mechanism, an increase in the tax on tobacco and because it opens up the program to illegal aliens.

McIntyre now says he will vote to over ride that veto. Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said over the weekend "We'll try very hard to override it. But one thing's for sure: We won't rest..."

Congressional Candidate Will Breazeale today criticizes Rep. Mike McIntyre for “flip-flopping” on the SCHIP expansion bill. “It certainly seems like Pelosi is pulling Mike’s strings and making him dance to her tune” said Breazeale. “He said that it was wrong to target tobacco to pay for the program and also was concerned about it covering illegal immigrants, but it seems toeing the Democrat Party line was more important to him in the end.” Breazeale also noted that a donation was made through his web site today from a Wilmington voter with the comment the donor was “about McIntyre flip-flopping on the SCHIP issue!”

The Republicans opposing the expansion have noted that the pressure to enact the bill coincides with Democrat Presidential candidates clamoring to endorse socialized heath care for all. This view was reinforced when Rep. Rangel, Chairman of the Ways and Means committee, said “It hardly matters that the expansion would be expensive or a step toward socialized health care.” This bill would cost taxpayers $35 billion but the Democrat’s original bill would have totaled $50 billion.

The Democrats need to “flip” 24 members who voted against the bill in order to over ride the President’s veto. This pressure had been predicted in an October 3rd story in the Washington Post. That article predicted “the real pressure will likely fall on the eight Democrats who voted against the program,” including McIntyre.

McIntyre has been pressured also by the left wing organizations such and Moveon.org and Daily Kos which said of McIntyre and other Democrats who voted against the bill – there will “be plenty of eyeballs on these votes.” All across the left side of the “blogosphere” there have been negative comments about McIntyre’s vote, even some comments calling for someone to oppose Mike in the primary.

Republicans, such as Breazeale, have been critical of the attempt by Congressional Democrats to expand the SCHIP program beyond the original purpose of providing affordable health insurance for low income families who make too much money to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to afford health insurance for their children. “The Democrats wanted to expand it to include families earning as much as $82,000 per year” said Breazeale “The Republican plan was to increase funding to allow the plan to continue with the original purpose and focus on lower income families – not middle income families. The bill as proposed by the Democrats, now including McIntyre, is just another step toward their goal of socialized medicine”

On April 30, 2007, I published the conclusion of a two-part dispatch, Desires of the Human Heart, about the efforts of the 1-4 CAV to transform an abandoned seminary into COP Amanche, an outpost in a Baghdad neighborhood that had been all but deserted after more than a year of sectarian violence. One of the last photographs, shown below, depicted the 1-4 Commander, LTC James Crider, looking out over the compound which his soldiers had managed to make operational over the course of a single weekend. Hello from Atlanta Georgia!

Why am I writing from Atlanta? I am here for the next 2 weeks undergoing recertification training on the Boeing 737 I fly for Airtran Airways. This is the first time since returning from Iraq in June 2007 that will operate my 737 at my civilian job. I have used the time since returning home from Iraq to organize our campaign and I am glad I did!

I did manage to squeeze in 2 campaign stops this past week in Fayetteville, the second largest city in our district behind Wilmington. I campaigned at the Military Officers Association of America (of which I am a member) and listened intently to their guest speaker, one of the local leaders of the Base Realignment Commission. Did you realize that when this realignment of our military forces is complete, the only place that will have more Generals in the United States than Fort Bragg will be the Pentagon? Wouldn't it be nice for our local Congressman to be a military officer who can relate to and instantly work with these Generals for the good of Fayetteville? As the Chief of Protocol for a 3 Star General in Kuwait during 2004, I already have met many of the General Officers in the military.

I also attended the March of Dimes Auction in Fayetteville Thursday with 500 people in attendance. I actually met a lawyer who is a part of a law firm comprised of all Republican lawyers in Fayetteville....imagine that! It continues to be amazing to me the amount of people that just walk up to me and ask: "Are you the Republican and Iraq War Veteran running against McIntyre?" When they find out I am, they always follow up with a handshake and a offer of help for our campaign. Many follow up with a donation check on the spot!

I was interviewed this past week concerning the Democrats over-expansion of the SCHIP program – which was created in the '90's by the GOP to help low income working families insure their kids. The GOP sees a need to increase funding but the Democrats want to extend it to families making over $80,000 a year. McIntyre voted against this legislation, saying he had "concern that Illegal Immigrants would access free health care benefits." Folks, I don't believe this is the REAL reason he voted against the SCHIP....the real reason is because he is trying to save his job. He knows his record of voting with Pelosi's liberal Democrats over 90% of the time before we announced our campaign will hurt him – he thought his job was safe. Now he is looking over his shoulder.

Now that we have the momentum, he is trying to vote conservative because he knows this district is conservative. We are already making a difference by putting pressure on McIntyre! I give straight answers. The reporter recognized this and said, "Will, I can always count on you to be genuine." The truth is that the SCHIP was a backdoor attempt by Nancy Pelosi and her cronies to take the first step towards socialized medicine. I am formulating a plan to help every American (legal Americans) get affordable private health insurance, not a copy of the failed Canadian health care system. I will announce this plan on another aircraft tour of the district in the Spring of 2008. When I am in Congress you will have a Representative who is not afraid to take a leadership role on important issues like affordable Health Care.

White Lake, NC – Congressional candidate Will Breazeale said here today “I am
appalled by the news that Speaker Pelosi agrees with the decision of the
Capital Architect refusing to allow the word God on a certificate issued with
a flag purchased by an Eagle Scout to honor the scout’s grandfather.” He went
on to say “The specific phrase, ‘In honor of my grandfather Marcel Larochelle,
and his dedication and love of God, country, and family’, is hardly a
subversive attempt to undermine the foundation of the nation.”

Very similar phrases can be found in many places that are hardly subversive or
political in nature. Take the American Legion: the Legion’s constitution
begins: "For God and Country, we associate ourselves together. . ."

The Boy Scouts’ oath: “To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout
Law”

The Girl Scouts: “On my honor, I will try: To serve God and my country, To help
people at all times, And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

The North Carolina Constitution : “We, the people of the State of North
Carolina, grateful to Almighty God…”

The Declaration of Independence: “When in the Course of human events, it becomes
necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected
them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate
and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle
them...”

Breazeale agrees with the more than 100 members of Congress who have signed onto
a letter from Ohio Congressman Michael Turner to Pelosi calling for a change in
the policy and calls on Rep. Mike McIntyre, who voted to elect Speaker Pelosi,
to sign on as well.

According to Rep. Turner members of Congress vet the appropriateness of messages
constituents request with the flags, and their discretion should be
sufficient.

"We have the responsibility for these common sense issues that might arise with
flag inscriptions and this one is basic," Turner said. "The architect has
decided the word 'God' is offensive. This rule should not be allowed to
stand."

Breazeale Donates to March of Dimes

Wilmington, NC – Airline pilot Will Breazeale of White Lake attended the March of Dimes Celebrity Chef Auction at the Wilmington Hilton Hotel Thursday night. He donated a sightseeing flight of the Wilmington area to the auction to help them raise money for their effort to reduce premature births.

A three time veteran of the Iraq Wars and no stranger to volunteering for worthy causes Breazeale said “This is just such an important event, helping to find ways to prevent premature births, I’m proud that I could do my small part in the effort to raise money”. As a member of the Angel Flight Network of Southeastern North Carolina Will also volunteers his time, money and flying skills to fly critically ill patients from Southeastern North Carolina to destinations all over the Eastern United States for medical treatment and testing.

The evening saw several hundred local people come together to sample the excellent food prepared by local chefs and to bid for the donated items. The wonderful food prompted Breazeale to comment “If these people had been cooking for us in Iraq, I’d have had to get my body armor let out!”

“My goal of raising ten cents per foot of elevation was slightly optimistic” he said, “ but if I hold the ceiling to one mile it will be close.”

During the social hour before the auction, the people attending got to find out from Breazeale about his run for Congress in the 7th district, which includes Wilmington.

Congressional Candidate sees Iraq War Plan validated

Fayetteville, NC – Three tour Iraq war veteran Will Breazeale, candidate for Congress in North Carolina’s 7th district, and a major in the Army Reserve, said today he is encouraged by the report that Prime Minister Gordon Brown believes Iraq could assume security control of southern Basra province from British forces within two months. This dovetails exactly with what Breazeale has been saying since his return from Iraq earlier this year.
Breazeale’s plan proposes would turn over the security protection duties for sections of Iraq to the Iraqis as the local forces are deemed ready. Province by province, city by city. He envisions reducing the overall US and Allies presence there to roughly half the current deployment, with 30,000 manning a permanent base in northern Iraq and another 40,000 remaining temporarily in Baghdad only until the stability and security of their government is achieved. Breazeale said “this plan puts pressure on the Iraqi Security Forces to defend their own country to the maximum extent possible.”
Breazeale said “I believe that as the new free government in Iraq grows stronger and more stable, these other governments in the region are seeing the value to themselves of a stable, free, non aggressive neighbor”.
Breazeale cited a Reuters’ report from Oct.1, indicating many other Islamic countries like Indonesia, Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to send ambassadors to Baghdad. Iraq's foreign minister Hoshiyar Zebari is quoted as saying "We have been able to discern a perceptible shift in favor of Iraq by many countries which until now had been much less engaged. These impressions were confirmed during meetings last week at the United Nations in New York."
Breazeale concluded saying, “the evidence keeps coming in that the surge is working, the US troops in Iraq are doing their jobs well and they will be returning home victorious”.

“Illegal Immigrants to steal citizens’ right to equal representation” says Congressional Candidate

White Lake, NC – Commenting on a report from UPI, Congressional Candidate Will Breazeale, seeking the 7th District of North Carolina, said “Illegal immigrants will be taking away representation from American Citizens after the next census.” The districts of the 435 members of Congress will be redrawn sometime after the 2010 census and that plan will be distorted by the millions of illegal immigrants, according to the article Breazeale referred to.

Because the number of districts is fixed, an influx of people in any one area as determined by the census will result in that area being assigned more Representatives than areas without such an influx. Although these people are not legally in the country, they will be counted by the census. The current ratio is about one Representative for every half million people. “If 12 million illegal aliens are counted that means 24 districts will have fewer American Citizens than the average. This comes down to illegal aliens stealing representation from people who are here legally,” said Breazeale.

“This is just one more reason”, he said “that we must immediately resolve the illegal immigration situation, because it will only get worse the longer it is allowed to continue.”

Someone named Fredrick, commenting on the UPI article wrote "Illegals can vote in North Carolina. All they need is a drivers license and they hand [sic] that out like crazy. La Raza recently had a voting drive and this will definitely help us Democrats in the next election."

Breazeale found it “simply incredible” that someone claiming to be a Democrat would be bragging that encouraging millions of people invade our country and steal votes from legal citizens!

White Lake, NC – Congressional candidate Will Breazeale (NC-7) supports the passage of HR 2881, FAA Reauthorization, which authorizes funding and sets policy for the Federal Aviation Administration for the next 4 years. Breazeale sees this legislation as very important because it does not include high new user fees proposed by the FAA which would have hurt general aviation and damaged local airports – important infrastructure for local economic development in the 7th District in southeastern NC.

As an airline pilot himself Breazeale feels that another portion of the bill is also important. The bill also allows a pilot to continue to serve as a passenger airline pilot until the age of 65 years old, provided that they continue to meet strict medical and proficiency requirements. Currently they are required to retire at age 60.

"This bill is a victory for general aviation because it does not include high user fees that were originally proposed," said Breazeale. "High user fees for general aviation would threaten our local airports which are so important to economic development. "

"I am also happy to see that this bill includes language that allows a pilot to serve as a passenger airline pilot until the age of 65. Safety in the skies is top priority for our nation's airline industry and we can continue this standard by keeping our most experienced pilots from forced early retirements."

Breazeale has heard from many of his fellow pilots about this bill and is now watching carefully its progress through the Senate.
