Hello to all!

As this newsletter is being delivered, I am busy campaigning this Memorial Day in Cumberland County at five different events. The highlight of all these events is Fayetteville's Memorial Day Ceremony where I am honored to serve as the keynote speaker. Mine is a message of thanks for the service of all who gave all in battle for this country, and also a message of challenge to every American to do more for their country. Anything from obeying all laws, to serving your favorite charity, to serving in the United States military.

I was always taught growing up that to achieve positive results you should never quit. It really disappoints me whenever I meet people ready to give up on Iraq and this war against terrorism. Look at what happened in Vietnam. The vocal anti-war protesters, aided by biased media reporting brought about an unconditional withdrawal. This cost the lives of many Vietnamese who had fought with us. It also encouraged the slaughter of millions in other parts of Southeast Asia. Despite that, the seeds of freedom and Capitalism were sown. Vietnam has gone from a war torn country in the early 1970s abandoned to communist rule, to a thriving CAPITALIST country today. They have one of the most productive oil and gas industries in the region and drilling for more. Vietnam has the fastest growing tourist industry in the world. Over 370,000 Americans visited Vietnam last year alone. It took over 30 years, but Vietnam has been won by becoming a system of capitalism NOT communism. Where you have Capitalism, you generally have freedom, but how many lives - Vietnamese, Laotian, Cambodian - would have been saved if we had not "cut and run"?

I make this correlation to Iraq today. There have been difficult times there, sometimes the situation seemed desperate, but we ARE succeeding and MUST see this fight through. We are setting in motion a transformation similar to the one Vietnam has witnessed but with our support it will not take 30 years and hundreds of thousands or millions of innocent lives. I really believe this in my heart based on my experience in Iraq at all levels of helping their government.

My staff continues to make aggressive plans to win this race for Congress! One of my top priorities continues to be a debate with McIntyre whenever and wherever. The people of this district deserve an open and honest debate on the issues important to the district, to see exactly who it is that will represent them in Congress. I am passionate about your conservative issues and it will show during a debate...I promise!

Organizations all over this country are making their decisions on who to endorse in this race. This means my filling out numerous questionnaires on my positions, making hours of work for me each week. The work is important, especially with McIntyre resisting open debates. These groups help to spread the real word on the issues to the people they represent. The National Association of Wholesale Distributors' Political Action Committee endorsed me for Congress on 14 May 2008. This adds a network of supporters and individual donors to our campaign. Benny - Will's iraqi friend and interpreter arrives

When Will was in Iraq, he needed a good interpreter to help in his mission to
thrain the Iraqi army to handle the security in their area of northern Iraq. He
got that and more in Benny - Bangin Al-Dosakee. Turns out he is a computer
guru as well, when their computers had problems, Benny could help. Will also
said his only worry with Benny in the backseat with a loaded AK-47 was about
safe handling of the firearm, not the intentions of the man doing the handling.

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- He helped American troops fight in the war in Iraq. Now an Iraqi citizen is getting a unique education in American politics.
He's hitting the campaign trail with a local congressional candidate[Will Breazeale].
Bangin Al-Dosakee was greeted with applause and handshakes at the Fayetteville airport Thursday. For the first time in his life, he is experiencing what many sometime take for granted -- freedom.

Hello from the front lines of politics!

I have big news for the upcoming week! This Thursday, April 3rd at 3:15pm, I am holding a press conference at the Fayetteville Airport to welcome my Iraqi interpreter from Northern Iraq: Bangian Aldosakee, known as “Benny” to those of us in the coalition forces. Benny served as my interpreter in all sort of combat situations for a year while I was advising the Iraqi Army from 2006-2007. He is brave, talented, and loves America. Benny has recently legally immigrated to New York State and is coming to Southeast N.C. to campaign with me as my special guest. Benny will be here April 3^rd thru the 18th and will make many appearances all over our Congressional District. I hope all of you can be at our press conference and welcome celebration for Benny on April 3^rd! If you have an organization that you would like Benny to speak to, please call our scheduler at 910-409-7023. This may be the only chance in your life to meet an Iraqi Citizen visiting in our area with such a great story to tell!

What a great week I have had. I was honored by the presence of Representatives John Linder (R-GA) and Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA) at a house party fundraiser for my campaign last Friday night in Newnan, GA. The fundraiser was attended by pilots, managers and corporate officers of Airtran Airways in financial and moral support of our campaign. Rep. Linder, who also happens to be a fellow FairTax supporter, made a great point to the crowd: Mike McIntyre, our Democrat competition, is a nice guy, but his votes in Congress are NOT in keeping with the conservative values McIntyre claims to represent. Rep. Linder also made a point that if you value me bearing your burdens as a candidate campaigning 80 hours per week in order to represent you in Congress in the way you should be represented, then show you support by "writing a check!" I could not agree more. Today is the last day to give before our quarterly report deadline. Please take your credit card out and donate on our website.

This past week also found me on stage with Sen. Fred Smith and Lee Greenwood in Fayetteville. That followed an event for our campaign at the Fayetteville North Regional Library. Most of my supporters also left after our event to attend the Smith event. A very good evening!

Thursday night I was honored to speak at a fundraiser event for South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham in Spartanburg, SC.

Tuesday night saw me meeting with a group of students at the UNCW campus in Wilmington. What a great bunch of young people, all taking an active interest in politics!

Wednesday started off with a long visit on the Curtis Wright show on The Big Talker FM. Callers had several interesting questions – particularly one about what I would actually do in Washington, was I all talk about what was wrong or would I follow through with positive action. I answered that, as one of 435 members of the House I would promise to take a positive, conservative stand against increased taxes and pork barrel spending. That I would work with other like minded members of Congress and NC state officials to convince a majority to vote with us on the important issues. I am already building those “bridges” now with my contacts during the campaign with people like Representatives Linder and Westmoreland, Senators Elizabeth Dole, Richard Burr and Lindsey Graham, NC Representatives Foxx, Hayes, Myrick, and McHenry, Senator Fred Smith and Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory. By building this network now and by growing it between now and November, when I am sworn in next January as the new Congressman from the 7^th District of North Carolina I will be off and running and ready to make a positive difference.

The District 7 Convention is this coming Saturday, April 5th in Bolivia. I hope to see all of you there as we confidently stride toward winning this race!!!!

Will Breazeale - Candidate for Congress in the 7th District of NC accompanied by his Iraqi interpreter from his last tour in Iraq will fly into all 10 counties in the district to emphasize his support for implementing the FairTax and doing away with the IRS on the most hated tax day of the year. There will be short press / public addresses at each of the stops culminating with an hour long rally against the income tax at the Air Wilmington facility at the Wilmington Airport.

A recent report in the Washington Post contains some insight into the efforts to bring about a victory in Iraq - for both the US and the Iraqis.

Since his return from Northern Iraq, Army Reserve Major and Congressional Candidate Will Breazeale has been saying "We need to let the Iraqi Army and police that we have trained take the lead in their own country, give them the the opportunity to lead themselves to Victory".

Breazeale, as a training officer living and working with the Iraqis, saw first hand how, like a kid on his first bicycle, the first solo ride may be wobbly and there may be some tumbles along the way, when urged or even forced to do so find that they really have all it takes to do the job.

Washington Post reporter Joshua Partlow wrote:

With just 2,000 American soldiers to patrol a city of 1.8 million people -- the Iraqi Sunni insurgency's most formidable urban stronghold -- the U.S. military strategy in Mosul relies to an unprecedented degree on the Iraqi security forces. U.S. military officials here say there will be nothing like the "surge" of thousands of American troops that helped ease the fighting in Baghdad and no major effort to search for insurgents block by block.
Instead, they are betting that 18,200 Iraqi soldiers and police can shoulder the load against the kaleidoscope of insurgent groups fighting in the city.
"We see the Iraqi security forces, more and more, take the lead and take the fight to the enemy," said Maj. Adam Boyd, the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment's intelligence officer.
"You do see a capability that we have not seen before."
In recent months, three Iraqi army battalions have returned to Mosul from deployments in Baghdad. The Interior Ministry has approved 2,000 additional police recruits for the city, and a new Iraqi operations command is coordinating the efforts of the Iraqi security forces.

Breazeale responds "This is exactly what I expect to happen as Iraqi troops and police are placed in the lead positions, allowed to do the jobs we have been training them for. We can take the training wheels off, send them on their way. The new bike might get mangled but the rider will get better."

"The odd numbered Iraqi Army Divisions (1st, 3rd, 5th etc.) are especially key to the country's success because these Divisions are comprised of a mixture of Sunnis, Shias and Kurds from all over the country. If these key divisions can succeed without our help, the country will succeed," continued Breazeale. "This HAS to be tested now like the successful test the British did in the Southern Iraqi town of Basra, before any mass redeployment is considered"

The American commanders in Mosul said their approach takes into account the lessons of previous U.S. offensives, in which soldiers flooded a violent area only to find that their targets had fled or were indistinguishable from other civilians. The Americans are relying on the Iraqi army to develop intelligence that will lead to specific raids to capture individual insurgents.
"You can't just bring in the whole United States Army and go room to room of the entire city and then leave," said Maj. Thomas Feltey, the executive officer of a U.S. squadron in Mosul. "The bad guys will wait. We don't know who they are."

"We could go into a room full of people suspected of being insurgents and we had no way to tell who was and who wasn't, but the Iraqi's could look them over and pick out the bad apples," said Breazeale. "They know their own people much better than we ever can."

According to Breazeale, the way to win in Iraq and allow the bulk of our forces to return home is to train the Iraqis, assist them while they train and then send them out to defend and protect their own country.

Will Breazeale at CPAC

This past week Will attended the CPAC (Conservative Political Action Committee) in Washington, DC. This was an excellent place for him to meet and network with people from all over the country who can be of assistance to his campaign.

These included the Young Republicans and College Republicans. There is a vast amount of energy encased in those two groups. Several expressed interest in spending time this summer in a district with so much beautiful beach frontage. (Although actually seeing the beach with all the work we will have for them...)

The Radio row and Bloggers row were interested in interviewing Will and the other members of the Iraq Veterans for Congress group. This included nationally known blogger John Hawkins from Brunswick County .

The 12 members of the Iraq Veterans for Congress were well recognized by the attendees. The blogosphere is already abuzz with reports on Will and the others. (Googling 12 Iraq Veterans will produce lots of hits).

Several interviews were done and are showing up as Podcasts or YouTubes.

Iraq Vets for Congress Denounces George Soros' Attacks

Peekskill, NY/January 25, 2007 The "Center for Public Integrity," a front group for billionaire George Soros, has published another "study" intended to distract attention from recent progress in Iraq.

The study rehashes the old canard that President Bush led the country to war under false pretenses.

With promising signs of real progress in the past year 75% of Baghdad is now secure, up from just 8% a year ago Soros and his brigade of leftists can't stop thinking about defeat.Kieran Michael Lalor, the founder of Iraq Veterans for Congress, a group of Republican Iraq war veterans running for Congress, said his campaign wasn't surprised by the latest effort by Soros to spread lies about what's really happening in Iraq. "But what's disappointing is the media's unwillingness to expose the demonstrated bias of those involved with the report. American military men and women in Iraq don't expect much from George Soros, but it's hard to swallow lazy reporting that enables his lies.

"The study claims that the Bush Administration issued false statements about the security threat posed by Iraq. The study is absurdly misleading, as are news reports discussing it.As noted at HotAir.com, "by stopping the research at 2001, the story is set-up to misreport the facts. The Clinton administration spent years warning the public of the threat of Saddam and his WMD. They even bombed a pharmaceuticals factor in Sudan on the suspicion that it was making WMD for both al Qaeda and Iraq. So the story either unintentionally or by design left out years of context.

"The organizations behind the report are funded by Soros, who has already been caught funding "studies" that spread lies about Iraq. In October 2006 , just weeks before the Election Day, the Soros-funded Lancet study made the outlandish and false claim that casualties in Iraq had exceeded 650,000 in an obvious attempt to sway voters away from Republicans as Election Day approached. The falsities in the report were immediately apparent, but it wasn't until much later that we learned of Soros's involvement.

As HotAir notes, stories written by the Associated Press and the New York Times [again] irresponsibly ignore the study's connection with Soros.

Lalor said that one objective of Iraq Vets for Congress is to counter the often misleading and biased reporting on Iraq.

Hello to you!

The incredibly busy pace of campaigning continues! The focus this week has been fundraising and healthcare.

We are in discussions with a very successful fundraising organization that has done wonders for national Republican presidential candidates.

The organization now wants to help our campaign raise the money we need. I have important meetings coming up this week with the National Republican Congressional Campaign Committee in Washington and with our new fundraising firm. Due to the large amount of money needed to win this race, I have made the decision to temporarily concentrate on fundraising events within the district. This effort will take at least the next couple of months. We have the right message and experience for this district but unless we have enough money to get the message out, we will have a hard time being successful.

I need to focus on appearances in conjunction with fundraising such as house parties and receptions. As always, if you have a concern or question for me, I am just an email away. I will ALWAYS answer your email with a phone call or email from me...NOT a staff member!

I have continued my discussions with small business owners, hospitals, doctors and the uninsured this week. It is a lot of hard work, but I am not going to stop until I find a workable solution to our healthcare needs. Rest assured, the solution will be affordable, and will keep healthcare privately run using the benefit of competition while limiting lawsuits. The solution will also be a "pay as you go" solution, which will NOT cost taxpayers additional money! I will announce my plan in a few months with a tour of the district.

I am also excited to announce that I have volunteered my services as a pilot to transport Sen. Bob Dole from Washington, DC to Brunswick County on 23 Feb for the Brunswick County GOP Fundraising dinner.

Sen. Bob Dole is excited that Iraq War Veterans like me have entered Congressional races all over the country. He knows we need as more military experience in Congress in the dangerous world! We are in discussions with him about a possible fundraising breakfast for our campaign the morning of Feb 24 in Wilmington. More to follow!

Newletter for 1-14-08

Hello all!

What a week! I can honestly say that I have never had so much fun and have never worked so hard! I am riding a wave of enthusiasm from people I have met this week on the campaign trail. Our website hits have doubled this past week alone!

I have made 2 pledges public this week:

1. Fiscal responsibility: Upon my election as your Congressman, I will NOT submit ANY earmark or pork barrel requests in the federal budget or attached to any other legislation. McIntyre is hooked on earmarks trying to impress you instead of showing leadership to reduce our multi trillion dollar deficit. (Check our Blog for my article on McIntyre and his earmark addiction.)

2. Accessibility: I WILL take phone calls from anyone in our District 4 hours per week when in Congress and I WILL dedicate 4 hours a week to answering emails personally. I WILL have at least one town hall meeting in every county in this district once per year. As a military officer, I mean what I say. The above pledges will not be broken!

Last week, I congratulated Mike Huckabee for his Iowa win, this week I want to congratulate Sen. John McCain for winning the New Hampshire primary. He attributes the win to telling the voters the truth – always an excellent campaign principle.

My campaign staff traveled the short distance to Myrtle Beach this week were I personally met Oliver North, Fred Thompson, Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney before attending the Presidential Debate. All of them were interested on my take on the war based on my 3 combat tours. I am proud to say that all of them listened attentively, there is no substitute for experience – especially when it comes to the war.

A thank you to Sen. Fred Smith, Republican Candidate for Governor, for allowing me to speak at 2 of his barbecues Saturday in Bladen and Sampson Counties. These are his campaign events but he has allowed me speak to the voters assembled there. I am humbled by the confidence Fred Smith has in me and I will be anxious to work with him to better our state and district after our elections next fall!

I will be crisscrossing the district this week from the air on my day job as a 737 pilot for Airtran Airways, flying east coast routes from New York to Tampa to Newport News, VA. As I am flying over the district, my thoughts will be with you, constantly thinking of ways we can work together to improve our lives and preserve hope.

Congressional Candidate to speak to Cumberland County Republican Women’s Club

Fayetteville, NC – Will Breazeale, candidate for the 7th district Congressional district is to be the guest speaker for the Cumberland County Republican Women’s Club meeting Thursday at 11:30am. at the Highland country club in Fayetteville.

The Army Reserve Major and three time Iraq war veteran will address the issues confronting the county, the state and the nation. These include the successful conclusion of the current war in Iraq, the total reform of the federal tax system and solving the thorny issue of illegal immigration. He will also be interested to hear from the club members their views on these and any other issues that can only be resolved by federal action.

The Presidential primaries and caucuses dominating the national news have increased awareness of the elections coming this November and the importance to our nation that we elect the candidates who will best serve our interests in Washington, DC. Candidates like Breazeale are taking their message to the people, in small groups and large, seeking to get their message out, lots of talking and listening. Always seeking to reach that one last voter who will cast the deciding ballot.

Expected topics are taxes, illegal immigration and of course the Iraq War. Breazeale is a Major in the Army Reserves and a three time veteran of the Gulf Wars.

Hello all!

I have to be impressed by Gov. Mike Huckabee of Arkansas on his win in Iowa. He has run a hands on campaign, doing it face to face with the voters. His hard work has paid off, he came out of nowhere and won the first round of the Presidential campaign while being outspent by his opponents. Folks, this shows 2 things: that THIS year fresh ideas can win and overcome opponents with lots of money!

This week will continue a blistering pace of campaigning in this New Year. Tuesday I am speaking with my good friends and supporters at the Fayetteville Fair Tax group. Wednesday, listen for me live on 93.7/106.3 FM from 8-9am in Wilmington, and that evening I am attending a dinner in Myrtle Beach with Sean Hannity as the guest speaker and will be speaking with Sean about a possible appearance on his national radio show and/or the Hannity and Colmes show on the FOX News Channel. Thursday, it is the Republican Women's Club of Cumberland County as keynote speaker and then I'm attending the Republican Presidential Candidates debate in Myrtle Beach. I will make it a point to speak to all of the candidates, but I especially want to talk to Mike Huckabee about the FAIR Tax and other issues we agree on. Maybe Chuck Norris will need a pilot who also knows his way around SC.

Air Force veteran and former Rhodes Scholar Heather A. Wilson of New Mexico is running for the U.S. Senate seat in New Mexico. She's the only female veteran ever elected to Congress. A Vets4Russell web site will be appearing soon, and I urge everyone to visit it. Veterans are a critical constituency for Murtha opponent William T. Russell. There are approximately 50,000 veterans in Russell's 12th Congressional District of PA. We won't get all of them, but we will get the vast majority of them. The damage Murtha has done with his irresponsible comments about Haditha is incalculable.

I'll be one of the contributors to the site.

The absolutely critical challenge in the Russell Campaign are how to "detach" conservative Democrats from the Murtha column. In the 12th District, there are twice as many registered Democrats as Republicans.

However, many of those Democrats -- up to 45% -- have shown themselves willing to vote for Republican candidates. In 2004, President Bush -- not the most popular figure in PA -- got 49% of the vote against John Kerry. In fact, Bush won Murtha's home county (Cambria).

Murtha's recent statement that "The Surge is working" reflects the fact that he's feeling the "heat" from the Russell Campaign. Many veterans in the district look at Murtha's disgraceful statements about the Haditha Marines and wonder, "Gee, what's wrong with good ole John?"

The Russell Campaign needs to convince such people that Murtha has "lost it," that he's more concerned with preserving his own political power than protecting the troops. Many Democrats are beginning to recongize that but they're not quite willing -- yet -- to vote against Murtha.

Of course, Murtha gets conservative votes because many people in the District believe "He brings home the bacon!" As I've pointed out previously -- using Bureau of Labor Statistics data -- Murtha DOES NOT bring home the bacon.

Yes, he does use taxpayer dollars to bring some "captive jobs" to the Johnstown area. However, most of the District remains economically depressed. The median household income in the 12th is one of the lowest in the state -- about the same as inner-city districts in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

Do conservative Democrats in the 12th know these things? A growing number do, but a majority still believes that Murtha has done great things for the District.

Murtha's focus in the 21st century has been to raise huge amounts of cash for his campaigns. Until the year 2000 -- and you can find this in OpenSecrets -- his campaign funds were about average, even though he rarely even had any opposition. He's had strong opposition only once in this century, but every two years he raises Brobdinagian funds that are double the congressional average.

In other words, if you want tens of millions in federal handouts ("earmarks") from John Murtha, you'd better be prepared to pony up with huge "donations." Apparentely, the funds get distributed back to various supporters, including his former aide Paul Magliochetti (of the PMA lobbying Group). Magliochetti makes millions from Murtha's actions -- and returns hundreds of thousands in campaign gifts.

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) has received tens of millions in federal dollars via Murtha. UPMC, also the former employer of Rep. Jason Altmire, is known for wildly overcharging patients and their insurers. This supposed "non-profit" generated a surplus (i.e., profit) of $460 million in the first nine months of 2007. UPMC has given more than $300,000 to Murtha in this century -- including $100,000 in 2007.

Are most conservative Democrats aware of the strange goings-on with campaign funds? Apparently, very few of them are. The notion that Murtha is "a good guy" is one of the abiding myths in the 12th District. But grown-ups eventually stop believing in myths.

There are real opportunities here for the Russell Campaign. Murtha's past electoral successes are based on illusions about who he is and what he does.

Breazeale visits Waccamaw Academy

Whiteville, NC – Three American Government classes at Waccamaw Academy in Whiteville were visited by Congressional Candidate Will Breazeale on Thursday November 29th. They learned from him his election issues and discuss those and other topics. The students are planning a trip to Washington DC early next year and will use what they learn to enhance their learning experiences on the trip.

Breazeale is a three tour Veteran of the Iraq Wars and a Major in the Army Reserve. The third tour ended this past June. He expects some of the discussion will involve those related topics.

Among the students was Breazeale’s daughter, who is a student at Waccamaw Academy. The students will be invited to visit Breazeale’s Campaign web site at http://www.awilltowin.com/ where they can find additional information about his background, public statements and issues positions.

Breazeale applauds agreement on Iraq War end

Fayetteville, NC – The Iraqi Government and the US are working toward an agreement by the end of next year that will result in a permanent US military presence of approximately 50,000 troops. This presence is intended to provide security and stability for Iraq and the region.

In a press briefing Monday at the White House, Lt. Gen. Douglas Lute described the agreement between President Bush and Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki which lays out a framework to the two countries arriving at an agreement like the “long-term bilateral [agreement] with Korea. There are about a hundred countries around the world with which we have bilateral defense or security cooperation agreements. You should think about the one that's emerging here with Iraq as one in that same sort of setting.”

According to Congressional Candidate Will Breazeale (NC-7), a Major in the Army Reserve who recently returned from his third tour of duty in Iraq, this agreement parallels his stated position calling for such a troop reduction and a permanent presence.

“The Iraqi security forces have the ability in many parts of their country to accept responsibility for their own protection,” said Breazeale, “The Iraqi soldiers I trained in northern Iraq this past year have what they need, we need to give then the ‘keys’ and let them drive! They need a push out of the nest – so to speak”

Breazeale also pointed out that the time may have come to reduce our presence in other places, like Korea – troops deployed to previously war torn areas – that no longer need our stabilizing presence and transfer those troops to the new and similar situation in Iraq.

Hello all!
Hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday. I also hope you gave God thanks for everything he has blessed us with. The reason we are having such an immigration problem is this country is such a great place to live! The reason other countries hate us is they are jealous of the country we have built. Americans continue to be the most productive workers in the world! The USA is 60% of the world's economy and only 5% of the population.

Our scheduler, Ashley, has been in overdrive scheduling appearances for me! I will be speaking to government classes at Waccamaw Academy in Whiteville this Thursday followed by campaigning in downtown Whiteville. I then travel to Lumberton to give my comrades at the American Legion a speech about Iraq. This Friday morning at 9am, I will be at the Jingle Bell jog running race at Fort Bragg. I am running the 10K ( 6.2 mile) event with a BREAZEALE FOR CONGRESS shirt on. Any runner that runs faster than me will be eligible for a chance to fly on my campaign aircraft with me on 15 April 08 for a special event! I will then participate in the Bladenboro and St Pauls Christmas parades this Saturday in the campaign convertible Mustang GT! Major’s Campaign Recruits a General

Southport, NC – Will Breazeale, Candidate for Congress and a Major in the Army Reserve has recruited Retired General Joseph Kinzer to his campaign.

While attending the annual Veteran’s Day event at the Golden Corral restaurant in Southport, Breazeale met Kinzer along with the many other Veterans taking the opportunity to have dinner on the restaurant chain while raising money for the Disabled Veterans. After talking at length the General volunteered to help the Breazeale for Congress campaign.

Asked what convinced him to sign on, Kinzer said “Breazeale has the right values and the right priorities, he will represent the citizens and veterans in the district well.” He went on to say “Will knows first hand what Veterans really need.”
Breazeale is one of the very few Iraq War Veterans seeking seats in Congress .His success will increase the mere 22% of the members of Congress who have served in the military, historically one of the lowest percentages of former military members in Congress.

When the 1-4 CAV first arrived to set up COP Amanche, the neighorbood looked beyond hope.

On April 30, 2007, I published the conclusion of a two-part dispatch, Desires of the Human Heart, about the efforts of the 1-4 CAV to transform an abandoned seminary into COP Amanche, an outpost in a Baghdad neighborhood that had been all but deserted after more than a year of sectarian violence. One of the last photographs, shown below, depicted the 1-4 Commander, LTC James Crider, looking out over the compound which his soldiers had managed to make operational over the course of a single weekend.
